Almost related to Lynne's post about the dog pound, it would seem that the Yaiza Ayuntamiento has  problems too.

Ayuntamiento not paying wages

Ouch!

That's a hell of a lot of social security they are going to have find.
Makes you wonder though, if the council has not paid social security and tax
for their employees for five years, how can they then go into any business and
check paperwork for employees etc?
A bit hard necked if you ask me Angry

Hey I posted that link on the lost dog thread and it's gone!! maybe the dog ate it.

Anyway my point being how come one council is so skint they can't pay their bills and another so wealthy they can pamper pooches?  I smell a rat....or is it  cat?

But guess who's going to be paying for any shortfall???

In response to Hugh ... as long as you register your employees and tax status monthly then under the laws here you can "delay" payment. This is very important to understand when buying a business as this (amongst others) can be left on the laps of new owners - the law states that whoever owns the business is responsible for any outstanding debts. This is also true on house purchases (outstanding community payments are often the most common here), it is important when buying any business (or property) here that everything is checked thoroughly!
