Ooh plenty for you here then Michael. Josie's given you a good link with
www.catlanza.com we were at Puerto Calero Marina today, where it goes from. Yes, there is a subcat too. I think that's the one that goes from the harbour rather than the marina. there's a catamaran that goes from the Marina round to Papagayo though. I tried to find out some info myself recently too.
Shopping - LOADS! The new Marina Rubicon is now open, and has some lovely designer shops down there... as well as lost of lovely restaurants. Wednesday and Saturday mornings is the market down there with plenty of bargains too.
Entertainment. Most bars have something going on in the evenings now - especially at this time of year.
Museums. Come out of Playa Blanca, and follow the signs to Yaiza, then Macher. As you go through Macher, you'll see a restaurant on the right hand side. Just next to it is a museum that is called "The World's Smallest Museum". A brave claim... but it has all sorts of miature stuff in it to have a look at. There is also a museum just past the entrance to Timanfaya, which has lots of interesting info in it - slideshows etc.
Sightseeing - well, there's loads. have a look at these 2 links for tours you can do yourself in the car.
Lanzarote South Lanzarote North We always take our visitors on these two jaunts.
Dorada beach (that Josie mentioned) has plenty of sun brollies for a bit of shade. It also has all the popular watersports too. The Papagayo Beaches are stunning (just to the east of Playa Blanca) but offer little in the way of shade, unless you get there late afternoon as the sun dips behind the cliffs. Still well worth a look though.
Look at hiring some bikes when you're over too - as they're great for getting around on. Electrobikes is up at Punta Limones, which is by the harbour in Playa Blanca. Roy will look after you there. I think it's about €10 per day for a normal bike and a little more for an electrobike. Roy will confirm pricing for you anyway. Tell him you found him through this forum, and that he owes me a large dry white wine next time we see him out

He'll know me as "Elle".
Yes, the bowling is great fun. You'll find a link to more information on the Playa Blanca listings in the main part of this site... or by going straight to
www.bowlingclub-lanzarote.co.ukEating out? Oh god - I could go on all day. there's plenty to choose from. Most of the PB restaurants do traditional fayre... or international cuisine. We've already recommended Brisa Marina and Pedro's to you. If you fancy somethig a bit different, then go to Transylvania, a Romanian Restaurant at CC Mulata - which is between the Natura and Rubicon Palace hotels. It's one of my personal favourites (but as Flash would say... "it's not for veggies"). A bit of a hike out of the town centre... but we normally take a taxi there, just €3 or so, then after our meal go downstairs to Manea Bar, which is just stunning. Your girls will like to show off their posh new holiday clothes down there.
Take a trip up to Femes in the car too. It's about a 10 drive away. As you have your back to the sea.... it's nestled in the mountains to your right. There is a restaurant that overlooks the cliff... sorry I don't remember the name - but we've only ever had a drink there. Emiliano's is just behind it - but get there early if you're planning to watch the sunset. It gets quite busy. In the village centre itself is a little restaurant that apparently has the best local food in the village. It's called Restaurante femes, or Bar femes or similar. Again, we haven't tried it yet - but we know quite a few people who make it a must-visit every time they're over.
Oh dear... Flooey's waffling again isn't she? Sorry! But anyway - hope it helps you out a bit.
