Hey, My girlfriend and I will be arriving in Costa Teguise a week today and cant wait! First time in the Canaries and looking forward to doing something different than what we're used to. We're both 22 and will be looking to chill out but also have a good laugh with some others at night! So we hoping we've picked the right place? Is there anything on the Island that is a 'must do', theres a few things we've picked out, but just want to check theres nothing we've missed! Would love to hear something! Thanks in advance Ian

Hi there Ian, and welcome to the forum. Plenty to see and do here, it depends on what your tastes are really.
Costa Teguise is well placed on the island for getting to most places - so you'll find it a great base.
You must do the Timanfaya tour. You'll be able to book it in your resort, or you can just drive south to it yourself (if you've hired a car). From Costa teguise, follow signs to Arrecife, and then Yaiza. As you approach Yaiza, Timafaya should be signposted too - but if not, it's down a road on the right just past Yaiza itself.
On the Sunday... head up to Teguise for the market (Teguise, not Costa Teguise)... have lunch... and then head up to Guinate Tropical Park (zoo), and then Mirador del Rio (views across to Graciosa).
In Costa Teguise itself, there's loads of bars and restaurants to choose from. Hold on to your hats, because I think Bob that posts in here will want to tell you all about it (he's on the countdown for heading to CT too!)
There's a water park just outside of Costa Teguise. I've not been personally, as I've heard bad reports about the place, and I think it's overpriced too... but you may feel differently. There's also a golf course there if you fancy it.
Head to Puerto Calero and you can do the submarine trip... or go out on the Catlanza catamaran.
Oodles hon... oodles!
Have fun - and happy planning!
Flooey xx

Hi,
Thanks for the quick and detailed response, it all sounds good! I will be hiring a car for a few days so will definitely be heading to a few of the places you've mentioned, including the camels, what about the Texas Rancho place, any good?
Heard similar things about the waterpark, and having been to the big ones in Florida I think we'll give that a miss.
We've both just finished our degree's so will be looking at hitting most of the bars and then chilling out in the days for the two weeks, so some info on the bars would be great.
Thanks again! x

Congratulations on finishing your degrees - you've earned a holiday then eh?
Yes, Rancho Texas is well worth a visit. They do a Cowboy night up there too, which is supposed to be good fun. I've not done it myself yet, so I don't know. That's the thing about living here... all this stuff is on your doorstep, but it takes you ages to get around to going to these places.
As for the bars... you won't be disappointed. It's not as busy as say Ibiza... but you'll find the bars very welcoming... and there's always some entertainment on somewhere.

Honey Rum!
Sounds interesting, is it a simple combination of the two e.g. Cherry Coke, or is there a bit more to it? always up for trying something new!

Just noticed you are both 22. You will have to do some research on hiring a car here as most places won't rent out to under 25's.
I think there is a company that does younger but can't remember which one ........ anyone help out on this?

Amazingly having just read this thread I booked a hire car this evening for August Bank hol weekend and while I never normally read the t's and c's in detail I spotted that the minimum age on my booking is 21!
I booked through Sixt via the Monarch web site but it looks from my confirmation as if sixt.com should be a good starting point. I got a Toyota Yaris with aircon for 5 days for £100. Not sure if that is a special Monarch rate but seemed good value to me as it includes an extra driver, unlimited mileage, insurances etc.

PS By the way guys as it's not immediately obvious from Flooey's first post Timanfaya is a volcano and it is a "must do" site in Lanzarote but if you don't get there don't worry because it's more than likely that you'll be back!
