Yum yum!

Discovered mojitos on a caribbean sailing cruise a few years ago but have never actually made it to Cuba - it's on my list for when I get more time - got to get an early night as lots to do at the office tomorrow - I'm a lawyer by the way as Flooey knows already - that's why I'm so pedantic sometimes - or possibly always.

Night all!

Just had a return journey to Lanza with Air Malta (on charter to Excel). No food provided, but that didn't bother me (particularly for £500 return for four of us). Mr C commented that the legroom was particularly generous (not something that 5'2" me notices really Grin) Will certainly consider them again in the future.

Just been looking for flights to the Canaries for February half term and are finding them at least £100 dearer than when I booked for the same time this time last year, so, sadly, I wont be booking at the moment. Hopefully the prices will drop as I'm guessing others will feel the same as me and market forces will intervene, but with rising oil prices, who knows? Sad

We've heard of holiday companies charging people extra after they've already paid (all in the small print, under "market forces" or some similar bullsh*t). We also know of people who are simply cancelling their holidays, because they simply can't afford it now. It's tight over there isn't it guys?

Not surprised they're pricey CG - it's a real nightmare eh? We'll send the private jet over for you love. We just need to win the Euromillions first.

On a better note (for us anyway). Jet2 lets kids of 14 and above fly over unaccompanied... so we're sorted for Sam next month. He's all booked up - and we haven't had to spend out on Alan going over to get him. He still needs to go to get the other (younger) 2 in July... but this should be the last year, as they can all fly over unaccompanied next year. That's saved us a fortune! It would have been an extra 4 return flights on top otherwise!

I've voted for Excel, as I have only ever come over with them, this time however, with there being 6 of us, I had to get an Air Malta flight ? (even booked through XL website,) anyone ever used/flown with them before ?

Thanks

I haven't flown with them personally... but I've heard some positive stuff.  celtygirl - isn't that who you used last time you came over? Or am I just getting confused?

Aer Lingus cos its the only one we thought of when we booked. However I have subsequently discovered that Monarch fly for about €100 cheaper (Dec) but not the dates we needed. Next time I will certainly be looking at them!

Sue - when you're next booking flights - have a look at www.skyscanner.net as you can do price comparisons on there.  You flying out of Dublin?  I've only been once. Have fond memories of drinking Guinness in the bus station waiting for a coach to Co. Mayo. Robbie Williams' "Rock DJ" was on the telly in the little bar. Love that song... and it always reminds me of Dublin.

You are right Flooey it was Celtygirl who used them when she came over.
If I speak to her later I'll point her this way.

I did. Mr C said it was the best legroom he has ever had (I'm a short "censored word", so don't notice such things Grin) Everything was on time. They don't provide or sell meals, but we just took sandwiches. No complaints, would use them again. Also, although the baggage allowance is only 15k, you can combine between 2 with one case up to 30kg.

Usually fly with Monarch to Lanzarote.  No particular reason, it's just worked out that they have been the best flight times for us (don't do early flights).  No complaints really, did everything quite well.  Never have a meal on a plane though - usually have something at the airport and then have some room for a nice meal once we've arrived and showered and changed.  Romantica PB is usually our first night restaurant, it's become a bit of a tradition for us as we have been going to PB for nearly twenty years.

I've flown Monarch a few times now. I don't think I've flown UK>>>> Lanzarote - but they're fine for short haul.

Hey, by the time the stewardess has been round with the trolley and the movie's done, it's almost time to start peering out the window on the approach anyway.

Good to see you again Windy.
