This is a sort of "what do you think " queation from me obviously a City fan but would be interested in knowing what others think especially people who live around the Manchester area

As has been well documented City became the richest club in the world in Jan , and IMHO luckily for us our kit sponsors Le Coq Sportif and our main sponsors Thomas Cook are finishing at the end of this season , the kit ones will probaly go to either Puma or Nike(due to our boardroom connections in Garry Cooke) but the shirt one is the main question

We dont need sponsors nowadays on our shirt and i for one will be glad to kick TC into touch(problem with holiday thats why ) so what do we do , we could have no sponsors like the olden days which i think is a good idea , BUT the main thought opf a lot of Blues is to follow Villa and Barcelona and have charity ,

IMHO the best charity we could have is Christies http://www.christie.nhs.uk/ for those who dont know thay are well known cancer hospital in Manchester , and a lot of people in the NW will have known of people who went in and never left there , i do myself and when i visited it was a place that was caring for the people who didnt have long left , BUT Christies invested in the icelandic bank and lost a considerable amount of money , £7 million and for a charity thats a bloody lot

i think that City should have their name on the front of the shirts to support them , hopefully giving a large donation on each shirt to the hospice and i for one would be proud to were a sky blue shirt with their name on the front

what do people think even Utd fans i am not hoping to turn this into a argument about reds and blues just what  would be the consensus about the shirt

ps this has been discussed a lot on Man city forums and they have the support of all those members which is in the 100,000's and also from ex players who are all in favour

hopefully a petition wll be up and running soon and i will post it if any one is interested

REMEMBER THIS ISNT REALLY ABOUT FOOTBALL ITS ABOUT A CLUB WHO CAN AFFORD TO PUT SOMETHING BACK INTO A VERY SPECIAL PLACE WHICH CATERS FOR THE NORTH WEST

I think it's a great idea - and also to keep it to a local charity.

Yes - I knew someone who Christies helped. Perfect to use a local charity for a local team....

On the same note, I noticed the Barca shirt on TV the other day....

Cracking post Sam, and I'll resist the temptation to say that after seeing you play at the boro last week you actually do need the money  Wink

I think it's a brilliant idea that football clubs contribute to their local community, and a lot of businesses donate to charity (it's tax efficient) so it makes perect sense that clubs with squillions hand some out.

If you look at a lot of clubs they're located in quite deprived areas (you might just be old enough to remember it used to be a working class game)  I think it would be nice, if they've enough money to get local kids & adults, who might not be able to afford it into the games to come, can't think how you'd square it, some people paying full whack and some getting discounts? dunno.

Supporting a football club should be about pride, and if the boro walked out on a Saturday with 'Butterwick Hospice' (our local christie) on their shirts I don't think I could keep a dry eye.  And with a bit of luck it might make the likes of Chelsea feel guilty about putting five past us!!

Maybe its because our Brazilians havent got used to the north east on a cold wedsnesday night in October like your Juniniho do

In a day this seems to be growing momentum on the city sites and hopefully the arbs who "said we want to be a community club" will take it on board , i hope they dont want Etihad or other huge companies they own on the shirts , or if they insist have something like ETIHAD SUPPORTS CHRISTIES" but if Villa and Barca can do it we should be able to now , the arabs are also in advaned discussions to buy the ground from Manchester City council who have owned it since the commonwealths so hopefully that will go ahead ,
i reply to your comment about football being mainly based in underpriveledged areas , we are from Moss Side and that certainly isnt a priveledged place i know Boro were from Ayresome but didnt go there so didnt know what the area was like

any way well done thinks its 10-1 to you in the last two meeting ,  Sad Sad Sad Sad

Ayersome was a dump, the current location would only be a dump if it had a major upgrade!!

But that's what I love about football, every other weekend some of the richest men in the world (Obramovic, Thaskin etc) come to the ar*e end of middlesbrough, and sit near me and my dad for their saturdays entertainment.  and if we can milk them a bit to benefit those communities, then brilliant  Grin Grin

Never thought about it being 10-1 in two, promise I won't mention it again  Wink
