Hola Flooey, Thanks for replying.. I am hoping to live in P D Carmen. I will stay in hotel for a week or so until I find somewhere to rent. As for the work.... that's the side which is worrying me. I have been told that I need to be on the Island before getting wrk... guess I will be doing a lot of walking round bars etc...!

Lol Lisa. yeah, make sure you've got some decent shoes on. But the busy season will be just starting... so you should be okay. There are some bar owners that come into this forum... so you never know... they might look out for you!
Good luck hon!

Hey Lisa
Yeah there are a couple of things that you ought to do if you want to get work out here!!!
1) Have a lot of copies of a CV or something that lists what experience you have and what you've done before - you may find the bar owner isn't in and so you can't trust the staff to pass a message and so leaving something behind will be a great help 2) Go to a gestoria (good one is in Centro Atlantico next to Nancy Spains called DYE Consulting) and get yourself a NIF number ... this basically recognises who you are and allows you to work legally on the island (although some places might offer to just pay you cash be careful because if you are ill or get injured you have no come back of cover - most employers will put you on some kind of contract not necessarily full hours but will cover you and them) 3) Copy your passport and NIF sheet lots of times ... you will need it to organise anything such as rental contracts, buying or renting a car, getting a contract 4) Have a big smile and don't worry about the knock backs! Lanzarote is always very quiet in May and so it is a difficult time to get a job, but end of May - June is when bars will be looking so be positive and keep yourself going - you are AHEAD of the crowd and that could work to your advantage
Unfortunately I don't have any jobs going at the moment, my next job free will be in July and I offer it with accomodation so I make sure I get the right people for my bar! Anyway pm (private message) me your details and I can always keep my ear out this end ... and keep in touch you never know who is going to hand in their notice tomorrow!!!
GOOD LUCK .... and be sure to let us all know where you end up so we can pop in for a drink (bound to impress your new boss if you bring in customers). Phil

Hi lisa! I moved to PDC 3 weeks ago, i am a PR for a bar in centro atlantico, when you come over, look out for me, i have ginger hair and the PR´s will point you towards me, im the hypnotist they are talking about! Hope you have a good time here, it shouldnt be too hard to find a job out here, and in the summer too, it wont be that hard!
Where will you be staying? When you get here i can give you my landlords number, there are a few appartments going now, dont know if they will be in June but they are empty now.
Hope to see you soon, and hope you get on ok!
Daz

LOL - that's Bob dragging up old posts again.
I did get to meet Daz222, when he was working at Jaspar's Bar. Last time I saw him he told me that he was off to Thailand for a while. Hope all went well for him.
Didn't get to meet Lisa though, I don't think
Elle xx
