I'm just curious why so many people vote for Lanza?  I'm in the planning phases of a first trip to the Canary Islands so any info would be great!  Thanks.

HI there DugKnight - and welcome to the forum.

The only reason most in this forum vote for Lanzarote is simply because the Lanzarote fans have found it first. Don't read anything into that.

All of the Canary Islands have their own appeal.

Itv really does depend on what you are looking for from a holiday. What's your taste hon - maybe we can help?

I've visited both Tenerife and Lanzarote since the 80's. I first stayed in los Christianos in Tenerife in 82 ( I think) when it was seperated from pla and still a fishing village! For me the South of Tenerife has been too commercialized over the last 20 odd years. Still some great scenery in land. The north is nice but a bit slow for me.
I've also been to PR in gran canaria twice in the early 90's with my girlfriend of the time. Had a good time as a 20/21 year old but not sure I'd want to live there as it's very crammed in and pretty full on in summer with the 18-30 crowd.
Lanzarote seems to have had controlled growth since I first came and still has the most laid back feel of the islands I've visited.

The volcanic scenery in Lanzarote is so bleak and captivating - it's unique and I love it.

Aside from that - i also rate Fuerteventura as a fab holiday destination - the beaches in the south of the island rival anything the Caribbean has to offer. I hated Playa de las Americas in Tenerife.

That is only my view though. I like quiet, laid back places for holidays. Each for their own, and I know plenty will disagree with my choices and prefer more bustle - no probs with that, just not my scene. Grin

I voted Lanzarote.

I have been to Tenerife, Gran Caneria and Lanzarote and have to say that Lanza in my mind is most definately the best all round, if not only for the natural beauty of the place!!

well for me it has to be Lanzarote - have only ever been to Tenerife once as well but that was enough - must admit did toy with the idea of trying one of the other 2 but was persauded on here to stick to what I know - didn't take much persauding though !!!!
