I have visited both Playa Blanca and of course The Anvil manny times over the past 5 -6 years. As I look at this website now I brings back many happy memories of previous visits. It also increases my desire to be away from the cold the rain and back in the sunshine, strolling about minus mobile and wandering in to The Anvil at lunch time for my real tea + BLT and like Maureen on another post, watching the Irish news. Then in the evening visiting for a few drinks with friends and enjoying the music and crack and experiencing the hospitality and friendliness of Padraic and both the day and evening staff. Roll on the middle of February the sunshine and The Irish Anvil.

Hey there Irishmick. Guess you're called John and from Wales then? LOL.

Seriously though - welcome to the forum, and so glad you like Playa Blanca. We live here, and know Aoife (Padraic's daughter) from the Irish Anvil well. Wandered past yesterday and they were really busy - which is great to see! Not sure if you came here via their website but if not - you can see it at www.irishanvilbar.com

Know exactly what you mean about wandering about minus mobile. I've manged to do minus computer on holiday... but can't quite get to minus mobile. Hopefully I'll be strict enough one day.

Flooey xx

PS: Can you please encourage someone in Ireland to start shipping boiling bacon over? A number of us are seriously craving it - and you just can't get it here... or fluffy Irish spuds for that matter! Mmmmmm.... now I want boiled bacon, spuds cooked in the bacon water, and cabbage.... Arrrghhh!!!

Hi FLOOEY, and thanks for the welcome.

Maybe you should talk to Aoife about getting Padraic to bring a case full of Irish bacon and a few "spuds" on his next visit. Better still convince Aoife to put Irish Bacon and Cabbage as a regular item on the menu.

LOL Mick. You could be onto something there. We've spoken to a few Irish bars about getting it on the menu - but apprently it's not too easy to get the proper bacon shipped regularly. But yeah Padraic or Aoife might forego a little corner of their suitcase - that would make me a very happy lady!
