Hi there, we stayed at playa flamigo last year and called at the irish anvil for a snack and a refreshment most days on the way to playa blanca centre, we found the prices reasonable, we are flying out to playa balnca on the 29/01/09 for 2 weeks and just wondrered if your prices are the same as last year? enjoyed watching man u there last year and will probably be watching them in the irish anvilon saturday.

Hi there Albert and family - and welcome to the forum.  The Anvil's prices are still the same. They get a bit of stick for being dearer than other places - but hey, I happily pay extra for a decent surrounding, and certainly for the entertainment!

Have a great time hon!

Agree with Flooey.........Food is great and plenty of it.

Remember a couple of years ago(maybe more) the bar opened about 7am, rugby match on the TV.  Had the best bacon sandwich ever.

I'm not really a rugby fan but had to go and watch it, just because of the great crowd...the pub really makes you welcome.

Cracking bar meals.

I often cycle past there on a morning - the smell of the cooked breakfast is very very tempting, one of these days!!

Just returned from Lanza. Food in the Anvil is very good, and a good full plate of grub as well! I found the local beer prices a little expensive (3.50 euro for a large tropical), but the Anvil breakfast (huge!) at 6e a bargain. If you fancy some food from home the Anvil is a great place to go, great setting and really friendly staff who make you very welcome.  Grin

I have to agree with Stevem - I have visited the Anvil both during the day for food and in the evening, at night and indeed into early morning for a few drinks and have not found price a problem - food excellent drink quality similar if not better than other establishments and then there is the staff and entertainment excellent as well. When you return to the counter to re order a round for up to 5-6 friends and the staff can remember it - that is the hallmark of a good barperson. On the other hand maybe I make too many trips to the bar!!!!

I've got to say that I was in there last Wednesday as we were meeting someone and while it was a good place to meet, it was also a tad expensive at 3.50 a local beer.
In the Anvils defence I must say that the place was very very clean and the toilets some of the cleanest we used in bars.
I didn't eat myself but my daughter had the gammon (which she didn't like) and the 2 kids had kids meals (as they'd eaten just an hour before) which were truly adult size and brilliant value.
I also agree with Irishmick that the bar staff were top drawer and remembered what you were all drinking and I also got a pint on the house half way through the night which is always a plus. Grin
