LOL Lyndylou - we didn't go in that area. We'll leave that to you and Flash Grin

Bernadette - it's really easy to get to Famara. Head from Playa Blanca, past yaiza and Uga, and turn right at the roundabout just the other side of Uga. It should be marked La Geria and/or Teguise.

Follow that road through the vineyards of La Geria. Stopping off to take plenty of photos.

Eventually it brings you out at San bartolome - so just go straight across that roundabout and you'll be on another long stretch of road - and almost at Teguise (the old capital, not Costa teguise). On that long stretch is a left turn that takes you out over the plains. i can't remember for sure that it is marked up as "Famara" but I think it is. Follow the road all the way to the end and it will take you to the beach. It's my favourite on the Island.

For La Santa from your place - head out of PB, and follow the signs for Timanfaya. Carry on past that until you reach a T-Junction. Turn left there, and just follow the signs for La Santa. It's one way in, and one way out on the main road.

Happy travelling!

Thanks Elle.  I've seen the signpost for Famara before but just hadn't had the time to divert down that way. I always to over La Geria on my way up to Teguise as I love that landscape and yes I'll certainly stop for photos next time, as I haven't done before.

Alan & I drove to La Santa a couple of times before as there's a really class bike shop there and Alan's a big fan of cycling. He has been trying to decide whether to buy a new (or second hand) bike on the island, or whether to bring along one of his own from here. (He's got three bikes hanging in the garage, so it would be good to move one and clear a bit of space!

I'm really quite looking forward to my travels in February!  I think I'll call myself "Dora the Expolorer" for the week!   Grin Grin

Try turning left towards La Geria - that usually works best.... If you follow Flooeys instructions you'll be heading up over Femes and back to Playa Blanca.... Cheesy

LOL!  Don't worry - I have a fair grasp of the main roads at this stage!   Grin

We usually go to Famara through the Timanfaya National park and Tinajo, probably no quicker though since the new road through La Geria was built.

It's the best 'beach walk' on the island.

And although they don't look it from the outside there's a couple of decent little fish restaurants on the front of - is it 'Casitas' Famara.  The blue one about half way down is good.

Would agree withn you there Flash!
Famara is my favorite place on the island. Has a real wild west feel about the place.
The restuarants  you mention are pretty good, though I did get "tuck up" when ordering a bottle of house plonk  14 euros Shocked

You're right about the 'wild west' feel, I think that whole corner of the island is a bit like that.

As we were leaving that day - a troupe of Police Cars arrived. It looked like they were planning a raid. About 6 police cars and a locksmith.

But then they just all stopped by the beach and had a natter.  A jolly day out then?
