Hi Sue

I know your real love is Lanzarote, but as you've a special place in your heart for Clogherhead, I though I'd post a link to photobucket from my Paddy's Day walk yesterday.  We parked at the pier and walked up over the head and ended up taking more photos of handsome dogs than anything else!

Anyhow, just thought it would give you some nostaglia before you get back to Co Louth again!

http://s463.photobucket.com/albums/qq360/CurtainThieves/Walk%20on%20Paddys%20Day/

The photos were a bit rushed as I had talked Alan into coming walking with me to keep me company, then I proceeded to ignore him most of the time, while I was looking for photo opportunities!  There were two big seals in the water at the harbour, but the buggers wouldn't come close enough for me to get a good picture of them.  At one point, I removed the zoom lens and Alan had it in his pocket.  He was stopped, chatting to a guy he had met and I wandered over to another part of the harbour with the standard lens on the camera and lo and behold the biggest seal swam over really close, but not close enough without the zoom to get a good picture of him.  Anyhow, the best I could get is included.

My next purchase is going to be a lens that combines the standard lens with a zoom, so I won't always have the wrong one attached when something interesting comes along!

Anyhow, I digress!

Suebh, hope I've captured something that reminds you of Clogherhead!  Smiley

Congratulations, Keith!

Good news: I hereby solemnly award you the prestigious prize of "Chief Pigeon Spotter 2009"  Grin

Bad news:  Your prize is SFA.  Angry

Thanks however for the words of encouragement.  I think the dog photos are nice, but the others don't quite do Clogherhead justice.  It's a lovely spot, but I guess it is pretty simple at the same time, so hard to share what makes it so special in photos, when a person hasn't been there.  The weird thing is that when I'm there I get a fleeting smell can brings me back to my early teenage years, and I wonder if there is something spiritual about the place, because it's something I can't describe and as I said it is very fleeting..... but it's there!  It's almost tangible!  Weird, but true!

Anyhow, I'll keep clicking away with my camera, but I'll not drag my poor long suffering other half along to freeze his butt off while I play Lady Litchfield!   Roll Eyes

Thanks guys.

The retriever belongs to a friend of ours that we bumped into on our walk.  Apparently the Springer was just following along for the craic!  Friendly chap!  We used to have an old Welsh Springer living in the yard of the house we rented when we lived in Wales.  Actually, that gives rise to one of the funniest stories in my repertoire, but I'm too busy to share it with you now.  Will post it separately at some point. God, I still laugh about it to this day!

Anyhow, gotta fly!  Catch you all later. X  Kiss

Hey there Bernie, photos are great, those images are imprinted on my mind as I have seen them so often but never tire of them. Would you believe we were in the village that day too, didnt go as far as the habour or the head. We were checking out our mobile up the road and jumped into the amusements for a cuppa and a biccie. Thanks for posting them

Yes there's always someone like that stops me for a 'chat' when I'm walking along with a telephoto lense in my pocket  Roll Eyes  Grin
