Well the game of the century happened last night .... the crowds were pulled in from the wax bar and paddy macs for the clash of the landlords!!!!
The first frame was a very close affair ... with Fergus rapidly potting balls in to all corners of the table and Phil getting very close to hitting his balls! FRAME 1 - Fergus (Paddy Macs)
The second frame was to be a little bit more tense ... Fergus was down to his last 2 balls and Phil still had 6 to pot, with a swig of Spiced Rum and Coke (and ordering for Fergus another Smirnoff Ice - not trying to beat him by fixing his drinks honest) Phil managed to make a great save by potting 3 balls in what appeared to be good play. Fergus came back with a clean pot of his own but missed a vital ball to leave him on to the Black. Phil stepped up (the rum kicking up his confidence level) and managed to make a shot that could have been seen in a trick competition (the fact he was aiming for a different ball shall always remain a secret - ooops!!), then another sweet shot left Phil on for the black. No build up needed here, the air was tense enough, "anyone want another drink" he called out desperately hoping to sway the play should he miss this shot ... silence rained down and so Phil lent over the table realising that his severe lack of height and ever widening belt line was going to limit his potential on this shot, afraid of following through (with the white ball - what were you thinking?) he sliced the white ball pushing it less than 10cm on the cloth ... it was over. Fergus stepped up (similar in his physique to Phil) he decided to play behind his back and gently knocked the white ball so it topped the black in to the pocket ... it was over for the wax bar in this 2007 competition. FRAME 2 - Fergus (Paddy Macs).
Phil graciously stepped up and shook Fergus's hand knowing that if only he had practiced pool, lost more weight, had better hand/eye coordination or many other excuses he might have been seeing himself in the 2nd round!!! LOL!
Seriously a lot of fun! Big thanks to Richard for putting this event together and although it was slow to fill names up on this occasion I truly believe that we can do more like this in PB and will look forward to the next competition (go-karting is more up my street)!
Cheers Fergus and Good Luck in the 2nd round!
Phil

Fantastic match report Phil...   Cheesy

Given the inside information you gave me about how crap you are I should have taken a side bet on Fergus...!

Allan (with 2 l's) against Alan with one L (or one "Elle" fnarr fnarr) are on for Thursday night.

We're hoping that Jon will be meeting Elle for a game or 2 too! (Actually, I'll probably lose... but hey)

We'll grab the results from Rich that night... and hopefully he, or we, will update then.

I won't win... because I'm the only girlie as far as I can see.. so don't go heading to Ladbrokes any time soon Keith!

Mua ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Now. I'm not normally one to gloat. But last night belogs to Alan's with one 'l' rather than two. Close run match - probably because, at the early point of the evening we were both sober (both Alan's/Allan's by their own admission play better after a few pints). Two nil to me.... More by good luck than good management - skill was not a major factor in the match, quite clearly!

And apparently Flooey wins by default as her oppononent didn't show up... Could make for an interesting final if enough other people don't show up...  Smiley

3. Vision was impaired due to the dusky night as I usually play after 1am
4. em em oh yeah had a sore back
5. erm eh...eh..geez...erm did i say i was sober?

Well done bud...good luck to you both see you next year !!  Grin
