There is some rule about a passport being valid for six months AFTER you return from abroad ( I think !!)

The following is copied from the first Choice website :

If you need a passport, then apply early. You do not have to wait until a current passport expires before you renew it. If you renew your passport before it expires, any unexpired period of validity rounded down to the nearest whole month (minimum of one month, maximum of nine months) will be added to your new passport. This period is calculated from the point at which your new passport is authorised for issue, not from the date of application. You therefore need to apply at least six weeks before your passport expires to get this benefit.
For travel to most countries, a British passport must remain valid for at least 6 months after your scheduled return to the UK. Some countries apply different rules: contact the Embassy of your destination country for current information.

did mine and the bosses last week, you don't need to fill hardly anything in other than your name place of birth  and passport number on your renewal. You only need SIGNED photos if you are unrecognisable from you last one. clearly i have not aged over 10 years.....I looked like an irish tv presenter on that one, just look  like a police wanted weirdo on this one!, oh and it was returned within 7 days!! It's me, Coatyless! And it doesn't really mean anything Wink

Back to the passport thing. I travelled with just a month on my passport, when within the EU (I went to Greece), back at the end of 2005 - but couldn't go outside of that to Turkey.  CG - you can have up to 9 months of your old one credited to your new one. This was certainly applicable in January of this year. When do the prices go up? Is that 9 month window any good to you?  And yes, like Coaty's... mine came back in 7 days too - and that was just by doing it over the PO Counter.

I was glad to be getting rid of my old passport photo - I looked like something out of "The Human League"... but alas now, I just look like a long-haired Judith Chalmers. And that was BEFORE I got a tan!  Shocked

Thanks for that top tip Flooey - they go up in October and his runs out in March - marking 5 years since his first Lanza visit at the tender age of 7 months.
