Just noticed that our next trip - a flying visit over the next bank holiday weekend - coincides with the Ironman.  As we won't be there for long what is there to see near Playa Blanca?  I think competitors swim to Fuerteventura.  Where do they set off from, where do I get the T shirt etc etc?

J.  if you remember I was in the Ironman last year, ok only for 200 metres but I like to think I held my own.

If you go to the roundabout at Las Salinas they shoot through there down to el golfo, that's the nearest part to PB, they'll start streaming through about 8.30 am and from what I saw last year will still be coming through an hour or so later.  The roads aren't closed and I was out on my morning ride, which is how I got caught up.

The sound is quite earie with all those bikes coming through together.
