Thanks for that Dixie.

I'm told that the horse to go for in the Victoria cup is Evens and Odds which I think is second favorite at the moment.

Weather is lovely though a bit nippy in the breeze.  Just trying to work out what shoes to wear - practicality over fashion ought to be the right choice but I haven't made my mind up yet.  Think I'll choose the handbag first!

J x

PS It's not actually Royal Ascot as that happens in June so hats not compulsory.

Hi Gilly

Didn't expect you to be the first to react to that comment!

Will let you know how it went later.

I'm going to go with Jimmy Styles in the last race (4.00) and I'll be keeping half an eye on Little Perisher in the 2.50.
Anyway, have a great day out there and remember, don't embarrass yourself as you've got to go back in June. Wink

Well Keith - your Little Perisher tip made my day.  A £10 bet on the nose collected me £48 including the stake, my only win of the day.

As for the rest of the event, the food wine and cocktails courtesy of our hosts were delicious.  What recession?

J x and  Kiss for Keith

Indeed. I backed both his tips.

However the real star of yesterday was the 90 year old granny of one of the other guests on my table, who gave him a list of tips as horse racing is her hobby.   The rest of us had spotted that granny was on a roll but missed out on her tip for the big race because our host took us down to the paddock before the race to look at the horses and jockeys.  I took a close up photo of Dixie's tip BTW.  I backed 4 horses in the Victoria Cup to win including the favorite (28 runners) but even if I'd backed them each way I would still have got nothing.  Granny's tip however won our new friend £265!  Granny also went for Little Perisher in the next race (Keith's tip).

Over the day I was £25 down, but without the win I would have been at least £70 down.  Bart is right - it's normally the bookies who win!

Great fun though.
