Visited Playa Blanca for a day trip from PDC in May 09 and stopped her for a coffee, very nice place with friendly staff and a lovely view watching the ferry from Fuerteventura and back.

I love the Irish Anvil, great staff and coffee etc. .................but, the very best place for"people watching" has to be when we used to go into "Roca Mar" though we've not been in for ages.
The great thing about people watching there, is that next door is a jewellers and then next door to that is another restaurant, so the jewellers is sort of "set back" from the pavement a good bit. (because of all the tables from the restaurants on each side.
OK, with me so far ?
So ALL couples below a certain age saunter along the front and as they reach the jewellers, the females ALWAYS mooch over to look in the jewellers window. The males sort of hang around "on course" to walk past. The females turn and say something to the males, who reluctantly edge over towards the window.
Now this is a double fronted shop with the door in the middle so as the couple reach the door, the females move across to the next window as the males head back towards the pavement and linger out there. Of course, the females speak again and the males again, reluctantly edge back over to look in the second window. If the guys are lucky then the couple walk on but very often it's a trip back to the first window and then into the shop.
You could almost paint the respective footprints onto the floor and be sure that they would fit perfectly and yet we all think that we're soooo individual. People watching,-I love it.

Sorry to disappoint you Smokie but I think the jewellers might have been taken over by a perfume shop.......

As I said, I've not been in there for such a long time, probably only twice since Sandy left and that must be years ago now.
Being a perfume shop, would the footprints probably still work ?
Perhaps they might, but not as effectively as the jewellers did.

Do you guys "nationality watch" too? We usually get the Brits (footie shirts and sunburn), Germans (starched shorts, socks with sandals and those walking stick things) and mainland Spain (always dressed so smartly) LOL

Dont really people watch , i football shirt watch , which gives you a good idea of where they come from(barring Utd fans which could be anywhere) and on the odd occasion i see another city fan its just a nod of appreciation and a simple hello
the swedes also use those ski sticks and i questioned my Brother in law whos Swedish and he said it was a exercise thing , he went on the describe what muscles etc it was good for , BUT did admit it looked f*****g silly
as for the Irish Anvil we popped in there on our one visit to PB and had something to eat the food was lovely and the watching the ferrys etc was great , did notice it was very busy where as other places werent but that was May 2007 so it may have changed ,

Winter is the best time for nationality watching. Mainland and local Spanish are normally wearing jackets and often scarves and boots alongside Brits in T shirts shorts and flipflops.

Local Brots too J! Well... I'm always huddles up in a big coat and or jumper, with jeans and boots. Once it drops below 20 degrees here... I start to shiver LOL
