While Sam's pushed for time, I've had a go at updating the points for the table, but you have to bear in mind that I've never taken a maths "O" level or CSE, let alone passed one, so if I've made any errors, Sorry.
OVERALL SCORES PLUS ADDED POINTS SINCE LAST UPDATE. (INCLUDING 1 POINT EACH FOR ME, ALAN M AND ELLE FOR PREDICTING CHELSEA'S SEMI FINAL RESULT AND 3 POINTS FOR LEFTY FOR PREDICTING THE ACTUAL SCORE, if these points shouldn't be included, Sam, then can you knock them off next weeks.)
1                  SMOKIE                                      246 + 51 = 297
2                  ALLAN M                                     231 + 47 = 278
3                  SAM LENN                                   194 + 16 = 210
4                  ELLE                                           186 + 37 = 223
5                  MADSTOCK                                  169 + 27 = 196
6                  LEFTY                                         166 + 34 = 200
7                  BOB CUNNINGHAM                          142 +22 = 164
8                  FLASH                                           76 +  0 =  76

So the new table looks like
1                  SMOKIE                                      246 + 51 = 297
2                  ALLAN M                                     231 + 47 = 278
3                  ELLE                                           186 + 37 = 223
4                  SAM LENN                                   194 + 16 = 210
5                  LEFTY                                         166 + 34 = 200
6                  MADSTOCK                                  169 + 27 = 196
7                  BOB CUNNINGHAM                          142 +22 = 164
8                  FLASH                                           76 +  0 =  76

My turn this time, this week’s scores were :

ELLE  15
BOB  9
ALLAN  9
SMOKIE  7
LEFTY  5

So the new table looks like

1 SMOKIE      297 +   7 = 304
2 ALLAN     279 +   9 = 288
3 ELLE       223 +   15 = 238
4 SAM LENN  210   + 0 = 210
5 LEFTY      200 + 5 = 205
6 MADSTOCK 196   + 0 =   196
7 BOB C        164   + 9 =   173
8 FLASH         76   + 0 = 76

2 ALLAN        288+4=292
3 ELLE          238+6=244
4 LEFTY        205+11=216
5 SAM LENN   210+0=210
6 MADSTOCK 196+0=196
7 BOB C        173+0=173
8 FLASH         76+0=76

cant blame you mate - i reckon youve put enough effort in over the season anyway  Wink

i think its a thank you from everyone for getting it started and doing the majority of it - if we do one next season or for the WC then maybe we should develop a rota for sharing the responsibility rather than leaving it to one.

I'm retired, so plenty of time on my hands and I don't mind doing it Grin

I used to run a World Cup comp where you predict all the group games scores. The idea is:

Say actual score is 2-1.

Predict 2-1 = 6 points (ie. all correct)
   "      2-0, 3-1 = 4 points (ie. one teams goals correct)
   "      1-0, 3-2 = 3 points (ie. result correct, scores both wrong)
   "      0-1, 1-1 = 1 point (ie. result wrong, one score correct).

Let me know what you think.

...................and your degree isn't in mathematics, is it ?

Should we have a recount about how many points were available ?

Anyway, I may not have won yet.

The reason that I may not have won yet is that we were having bonus points for naming the trophy winners but it was never stated how many points for a correct nomination.
If it's a million points per competition then I've probably not won.
If it's a few points per Cup, or whatever, then I might still be ok.
(and the World Cup was included so as Fergie would say, it's never over until it's over.)

So without looking at anybody's predictions, how many points should it be for a correct trophy prediction ?

(have you re-done your sums yet, lefty ? and sorry, I meant your Masters Degree)
