Hiya Floo.
I first read this article on sunday morning, and by n large its a good article. But there are a couple of bits in the write-up that sadden me slightly.
I'd like to ask a couple of questions if I may ?
1, As a relative newcomer to the island (I've been visiting for 5 yrs) I'd like to know where/how the term "Lanzagrotty" came from ? I've never found the Island to be grotty in any way shape or form. In fact quite the opposite. I've said it a 1,001 times, "I feel its the friendliest/safest place I've ever visited. The people are fantastic. There are some brilliant; bars, restaurants, beaches, places to explore etc, its very relaxed, the climate is superb !! What do people want ?? Its certainly not "grotty"... If anyone could enlighten me, it would be much appreciated....
2, The other quote that upset me slightly was, "While Lanzarote's tacky side is perhaps its most famous facet"

Tacky side ?? I would say that the majority of holiday resorts sell a bit of "tac"....from Lands end to John "o" Groats, from Brazil to Benidorm.... I would go as far as to say that Lanzarote is quite timid in the "tac" department, compared to other places I've visited... or is there something from "the past" regarding "tac" of a "different nature" that I'm unaware of ?? Again, if anyone could enlighten me ??
With what I've written/asked above, please don't get the wrong impression. The article is a great advert for Lanza, but people, especially those who have never visited, sometimes just pick up on a couple of "bad bits" and that could put prospectve holidaymakers/tourists off....
We on the forum all know what Lanzarote is, and thats why we come back time after time..... its not grotty, its not tacky......its a little bit of heaven on earth.....and long may it be so....
