The English dream team will be McClaren.

Interesting that RB has been saying for weeks he was 99% certain that Button would be signed up for next year.  Either he wasn't aware his own team was being sold (and all of the related background dealings that must've been going on)   - or, heavens forbid, he was telling porkies!!

Wherever he ends up next year will show how just mediocre a driver he is.
Winning the title this year was a one off! The Brawn cars at the beginning of the season had a distinct advantage "double" diffusers?. When the other teams fitted them, where was Jensen then? middle of the pack!

Don,t like his dad either, old wisky nose. Tongue

Ted the Brawn advantage was that Honda abandoned any development of the old car mid season last year because it was a shed, so they had six months start on everyone with the development of this years.

When everyone else got the diffuser, Brawn still won, it wasn't really that, the others just out developed them as the season went on, probably due to limited (development) budgets at Brawn - hence the sale.

However side by side with Hamilton Button won't excel next year, he's not THAT good.

Yesterday the FIA published the finalised 2010 F1 regulations, confirming a raft of new rules for the sport, along with the controversial £40m voluntary budget cap. Here is a summary of all the rule changes to take effect from next year.

2010 rule changes
- Minimum car weight incrased to 620 kg (previously 605 kg)
- Mid-race refuelling banned
- Qualifying to be contested on low fuel (Q3 previously contested on race fuel)
- Tyre warmers banned
- Maximum number of teams allowed to compete in the championship raised to 13 (from 12)
- Stewards can now drop a driver any number of grid positions at a driver's next race if he is involved in a racing incident (previously drivers were dropped 10 grid places)
- KERS no longer allowed to operate when a car is travelling above 300 km/h
- KERS energy storage (battery or flywheel) must be located behind the driver and in front of the engine
- Rear brake pressure may be reduced by use of a valve during KERS use
- Tyres must now be inflated with only air or nitrogen (CO2 also previously allowed)
-

Thats not all,Bridgestone have announced they are pulling out after 2010!

Still, for around £8,000,000 a year I think I could put up with it!! Wink

I've never agreed with mid race refuelling.  It transferred overtaking from the track to the pits and located thousands of gallons of fuel in the same spot - a bloody miracle there's never been a disaster.

Rear brake pressure may be reduced by use of a valve during KERS use   Huh Huh Huh

Would you be using KERS and the brakes at the same time ??

Rumours Rumours

A colleague of mine used to work for Renault F1 and has heard some interesting rumours coming out of the team! They have still not decided on wether to enter a team next year. Normally by this time of year the team is a hive of activity getting the new car ready, but so far "nothing". Fifty or so of the team have been laid off, the others are waiting a decision to be made by Dec 23rd.
Also it now seems that Flavio may not have been in the "know" regarding this years "cheating"incidents.
He also is the owner of the factory that produces the engines for Renault and Red Bull and is very good friends with Ross Brawn, going back to the glory days with Benneton.
"So" we have an engine builder, and a race team manager, (hmmmm)

Finally word is......... The "Russians" are coming.

It could all be a load of "tosh"  but no smoke without fire!

You have got me thinking in pictures again!
I'll go along with Barts opinion, as he has a geographical advantage on me. Wink

Yes he is, he goes every winter to train for six to eight weeks, and goes out of his way to say how great it is in any interview he gives.  He either really does love the island or La Santa foot the bill  Wink

Didn't see him by the way.

He's not allowed a night at Casa A&E though - might disrupt his training permanently Grin
