Weather can be pretty reliable in the Canaries all year round. Would you say there is a best time of year to visit, however, and - if so - when?

I think you will find that it is very much personal taste and which island you visit. The weather stays the same pretty much across the islands at the same time of year but the look of the islands can be very different! I personally love late February/early March ... this is when Lanzarote usually has a beautiful cover of green over the usually barren landscape and the days are often long and clear with low winds (trade winds changing direction) last February was stunning with temperatures in the late 20s so not to hot! But as I said it really is a matter of taste ... some people may have loved the 40c+ temperatures that we had earlier this year but personally I prefer it 30s and under so I can enjoy it! What does everyone else think? Phil

I'm a sun-worshipper (just as well really), so I would alwyas plump for August to September for those higher temps. But as Phil said... it tends to be warm all year round. December was fantastic here in Lanzarote - and a New Year's Day stroll in summer clothes was fantastic.

May/June and October would be my choice - nice and hot during the day, but cooler at night (sometimes).

Sorry for replying to old topics.... but December 2007 was the best for me. Its was perfect everyday, was really warm, even on a evening i didn't need a jacket. That was one holiday that i didn't want to come home from, i was so relaxed, was just perfect.

I've been over at numerous times over the past 5 yrs. But my favourites are; late April/early May. October. Christmas/New Year. Spending the day on the beach on Christmas or New Years day is a WONDERFUL WONDERFUL feeling !! Mick

Old topics are still good to bring up Julie. December is very popular here yes... I guess it's just so different to home for you.
September is still my favourite.

To be honest the week before the xmas lot go out is the cheapest week we have found, a lot of places are do a bit of decorating before the holidays and if you can put up with that is great we got a week at the floresta for £500 for us both all inclusive which meant we were able to go and eat out in the veneing and still sample loads of free booze(shorts for us at night) and also get a brekkie everyday with loads of coffee to soak up the previous nights booze

Your right about the week before Christmas Sam. Thats why I go for a month. I fly out mid December and come back mid January. With what I save on flight prices more or less pays for the apartment for the extra week or so. I think I paid about £150 return last year with Jet2. I didn't bother booking my 4th weeks accomodation. On the 3rd week I asked the lady on reception if I could stay for another week and they let me have it for half price !! I think it cost me about 100 quid to stay for the extra week. Its become quite an annual event now at the complex where I stay. Quite a few of us from all over the UK meet up every year; couples, singles, families. Some just come over for a week, some for 2. ME...... ahhhh well. A few years ago it was a week, then 2, then 3 and now its stretched to a month !! Mick
