one match this week.

played a team called 'hardly athletic'
they werent too unfit tho, and it was a very tight game which we were behind by 1 or 2 at half time (either 3-1 or 2-1 or something like that). We started the 2nd half  much better than the first and were pushed into a 3 goal defecit despite the good start. then we started to rally and after pinching one back through a delicate chip over their keeper from our centre back who normally when shooting tries to bounce it in off the international space station, I managed to score a screamer to rival his finish. Left foot, 20 yards out from just left of centre circle flew into the top right hand corner. bit of a LeFtY special tbh and not a big deal for me as its a week in week out kind of thing 

then another lad equalised after having run about 10 paces whilst falling over but just managing to keep on his feet long enough to poke it past the keeper (he'd been running with his body at a 90 degree angle for ages before scoring - very funny to watch). so we were level with 3 minutes left. with one and a half minutes to go our keeper (from our other now defunct team, who plays outfield for this team)  had scored a hat trick. so it was a 7-4 win in the end although that was a bit flattering as it was a lot closer than the score line suggested. well, having not felt great last few weeks i dodged last weeks match (which never happened anyway so that meant i dodged nothing) and i cant even remember what happened in the weeks previous since last posting so im gonna just go from where we were last nite. 2 games due to last weeks cancellation and we were playing 2nd and then 3rd. we were 1st. were 

Match 1
played against a team with a lad who looks like he shouldnt be able to play football - giant specs, skinny weedy guy wearing tight athletics gear and looking generally out of place. he would probably be your last pick in the playground if you had just met him. but damnit he can play. an absolute engine on him but i managed to just outdo him pretty much everytime although not every time (which was never more ovbious than after we scored, they kicked off and he just screamed past me to smash it in about 3 seconds after the restart. oops, my bad!)
we played well and were ahead at half time but the ref had dug himself into a hole which had meant he lost the game after about 60 seconds. actually he would have probably done a better job if he had dug a hole and climbed in, blowing his whistle randomly. i got hoofed into the air within the first minute and he didnt do anything about it - which unfortunately means our side want revenge against them, and they think the ref isnt gonna blow up for any fouls. so madness descends. it wsnt that bad but he seemed like hed lost it after getting that one wrong so early on. so i think it was about a 2 or 3 goal difference at half time and the oppo's just played their way right back into it after our crap lad decided he was bored of marking and was gonna dissappear into thin air for the 2nd half. so essentially 4 v 5 for therest of the match. was very wound up to lose it after being ahead by so many but they won 9-8 in the end and to be fair they deserved at least a point - we should have got 3 points but in the end didnt deserve any. 1 of us didnt anyway  LeFtY rating = 6/10

Match 2
playing against a team we beat 4-3 in our first meeting. big bruisers and not a bad side with it. they have one guy who is an absolute tank, looks a bit like he should be playing linebacker in the nfl but he can use his feet quite well. his speciality is either powering past you and striking it at 400mph when he feels like scoring, or, putting his ma-hoo-ssive frame in between you and the ball and not letting you get near it, when he feels like defending and having a bit of a rest. very physical hard game drawing at half time. in the last 5 minutes i came on when we were one behind (we rotate subs every 5 minutes) and after pushing my limits managed to get ball of giant man, tear away down the line, and miss the chance to square a tap in to a team mate - but it was intentional as i wanted to go and 'meg the keeper. so i did. still wasnt even close to our best goal tho as we had to bullet strikes from our ex-keeper, and that lad who i mentioned in the previous post who scored the 'delicate chip when he usually blasts into orbit', scored another chip (its actually very very good considering this is 5 a side goals and you are not allowed to put the ball over head height. it was the giant that ended up winning it for them and again it was a win they honestly earned. we ended up losing by one. during the first half one of our lads had asked the ref what score it was. one of their team immediately said 5-3. the ref said 4-3. we argued he hadnt marked one down but he was having none of it. a recount during discussion on the way home confirmed we got screwed out of a point by the worst ref at the centre (he just doesnt care so it ruins everyone elses fun. frustrating but you dont get to pick the ref. plus, he's a ref - theyre call cr*p ) LeFtY rating = 7/10

anyway - we were top by 2 points and ended up in 2nd now. the first oppo's from 2nite now in top spot (19 points) are playing our oppo's from match 2 in 3rd on 17 points. we are 2nd on 18 points and have toplay bottom of the league which is the team from previous post so from my review, sounds like its gonna b a tougher match than we will anticipate from looking at the league table. oh, and its the final match of hte season. so a win and a win for 3rd place will give us the league. if we lose and drop to 3rd we wont get promoted. nervous times ahead

ok so i got the table wrong last week and it wsa 1st on 19 points (GD +24), us 2nd on 18 points (GD+14) and 3rd on 15 points (GD -7).

So final match of the season. big decider. the team who were bottom with 2 points from their 10 matches were our opponents. so a tough but very winnable game.
they quit and a new team of which we new nothing took their place. a team of big bruisers. awesome.

So we started badly, very very badly indeed. after about 8 minutes we were 3-0 down and it looked like we were possibly gonna lose our promotion spot, never mind win the league. i had a feeling that 3rd would beat first so we couldnt really afford to lose. but our ex keeper (now outfield, who has been doing very well last few weeks) stepped up to pull one back before it started getting out of hand, follwed closely by their keeper trying to throw the ball out to his striker but left it a bit too close to me who imediately volleyed it straight back - right footed may i add  - to make it 2-3. we eventually went in at half time at 4-4 (i managed to get the 3rd when we got a free kick 4 yards outside their area which was dinked over their last defenders leg straight into my path after a quick run which got rifled into the bottom corner, 2nd of hte game for me and although my last actual goal im claiming our last  )

so we managed to screw up again and let ourselves get 6-5 down with 2 minutes left. could not find a way past their keeper (schmeichel reincarnated!!). but with seconds to go, our ex keeper played a ball the length of the pitch to me stood on the edge of their area, had too many defeneders near by so taking a touch would have let them get on top of me and either block any further shot, or hack me down (which was likely as it seemed to be one of their preferred methods of defending) so i did what all good girls do and kept my legs closed. until the last second so hte keeper couldnt see where it was that is. just as the ball got to me it had enough pace on it so i opened my legs and let it sail past the bewildered keeper for the equaliser. not my goal but im taking a big slice of the credit for it . Final score 6-6  not chuffed with the result but considering we could have lost i can take it. LeFtY rating = 8/10

So that point put us on 19 points and promoted. unfortnuately our GD wasnt good enough for us to finish top (unless top had lost by 11 goals). they only lost by 2. but it means we would have won the league if we had not let in one of our goals, or if we hadnt been cheated out of the draw last week. cest la vie eh. New season starts on wednesday
