yep think im definately not gonna b ready for sunday now - tried sprinting after some shoplifters (instinctively, completely didnt think about my knee) tonight and it didnt feel right. and ive done it all, ice, resting my knee, drinn=king ribena, massaging my knee with a ribena/placenta mixture and none of its worked yet  Wink

Ill go voice my support on sunday but i reckon im 20/80 to play at present. so i might try a little bit harder on my night out the night before (hopefully celebrating a big win for the reds).

I was going to work one morning on my bike at about 5-30 along Barlow Moor Road, and Best was in his car going home. Cheesy

Sunday 22/11/09

Playing against a side in brinnington this morning - again injury kept me out. but one of leftys mates came along for his debut so that was good (and he did alright). the lead up to the game was talk of a rough team with their supporters all coming down with their boxers/rottweilers on leads. anyhow there were no supporters for their team, and no bloody players either!!! they kicked off the game with 8 players. so after 20 seconds our lads scored the first goal of the game (was funny as it was so quick but more impressive considering it was their kick off, lol). so a few minutes in they managed to acquire a couple more players but played the majority of the game with 10 men. 4-0 at half time. Second half was a bit of a walk over and it finished 11-0. so a nice big win and standing in the cold and rain first thing this morning did wonders for reducing my hangover Cheesy
Was a good job we were playing a side that werent gonna test our keeper too much as he was out with us last night and was bringing it all back up b4 the match. he looked terrible  Roll Eyes but he showed his class and pulled off a decent save in the last minute to keep the clean sheet. not bad considering that he had been stood still in the cold and wet for 90 minutes doing nothing.

Anyway thats todays review - No badminton 2moro as my knee is still bad and all the other players are otherwise engaged.

So, in reality, you could have played as long as you were in goal.
But then you'd have had to do that amateur football thing of someone else taking goal kicks. Something you don't see a lot of in pro football.

Fingers crossed ill be back on the sporting level 2moro - badminton 2moro nite so hopefully ill come through that and be able to get back on with letting you all know how ive been gettin on with my footy.

29/11/09 Sunday 11 a side

couldnt carry on last weeks 11-0 form as all games were called off due to a lack of scuba gear for the players. when will the government step in and fund my request for proper all weather pitches (ones that can deal with all weathers inc. tornado's, tsunami's and electrical storms).

I'd love to get back into badminton. Havem't \played since school (in 1832) but then I partnered my maths teacher... and we regularly whooped the butts of 2 PE teachers.

Yes... teachers loved me... no I wasn't a teachers pet. Well, not by choice anyway... I just made their grades look good. I was actually very quiet and kept myself to myself at school. No I wouldn't believe me either... but it's true! Becoming a sales assistant on commission found my balls... being a barmaid found my feistiness!

Anyway... erm... back to badminton. I really should take it up again! I was rubbish at squash and tennis though.

Monday 30/11/09 - badminton

only a recreational game between friends (although that doesnt mean its taken lightly) - knee held up well, wno 3-2 in games against my mate, played really well considering the first bit of exercise ive done in what seems like 6 months  Wink

unfortunately the foot injury which i think caused the knee issue isnt right yet - wondering if ive got one of them tiny tiny fractures that you dont realise you have and can run/walk on without falling down but still hurts something fierce. time will tell i suppose. anyway our wednesday night team is full of dirty blues  Wink so theyve rearranged it so we play two the week after so no game on wednesday. thursday is next game so ill c how im fixing for that on the day.

Thursday 3/12/09 Athletico Pathetico 5 a side

First time kicking a ball in weeks. was a little nervous but it turned out to be ok overall. we were playing a team who beat us 12-7 first game last season but we beat them 11-6 in the 2nd match. team arent dirty but they are a bunch of pr**ks. anyhow i couldnt kick a ball properly to save my life in the first 10 mins but settled in after that. the entire game was basically -  they score, we score, they score, we score. it was about 4-4 after 5 minutes so the defending from both teams was shocking. at half time we were behind by one goal i think.
second half kicked off and we equalised pretty damn fast and then the pattern continued from the first half til they ended up going 13-10 ahead. fortunately i managed to find my shooting boots at this point. last 5 minuted and i bagged two decent strikes both with the injured left foot which was holding up ok. then with 2 mins left i got hoofed up in the air on the edge of their box which is a nightmare as there is very rarely enough space to find a team mate from these free kicks as the pitches are so small so the advantage 99 times out of 100 goes to the team who commits the foul. anyway the lad who put me up in the air stood a foot in front of the free kick to stop me shooting (the legit distance is 2 but refs never gonna make him move 1 foot) so i thought with no shot on i best pass it back to a team mate if they could find the space. anyway as no-one could evade their marker i thought f*ck it and went for a back heel shot instead which "nutmeged" (spell check on that one pls) the defender and beat the keeper. classic. and i accidentally caught the cheat who fouled me, with my foot while backheeling (and it was by accident) the shot and injured him out the last 2 mins of the game. a shame but shows that karma is at work sometimes - if you dont wanna have bad things happen to you then dont cheat  Wink.

anyway last minute we managed to get a winner from one of our other players and held on for the 14-13 win which has put us joint top after 3 games with 6 points. although we are joint top with 5 other teams with two teams bottom with 0 so its a tight start to the season.

sunday today and no game again for the 11 a side team due to underwater pitches so no report there. badminton 2moro night which is always good for fitness and kicking the week off right.

7/12/09 badminton

nothing worth mentioning really - lost the first game by 2 points, won the second by 7, lost 3rd by 2 points, won 4th  by 5 points, then was 20-14 up in final game only to completely run out of steam and lost 22-20. bit annoyed but was a good workout though.

2 games on wednesday  Grin hopefully the knee/foot which started hurting again on monday will hold out  Embarrassed
