10/12/09 5 a side (dyanmo dildo's) 2 games last nite VS REEDS RAINS - first one was a tough-un. had one of our 11 a side players joining in so wasnt just the kids this week, although this lad is still only 19 so its still a few years junior to me. anyhow im gettin off point here, was a tight game all the way but again in the last 10 minuted managed to bag a couple of goals (tricksy ones as well i mite add ) to put some daylight between the teams and remind me that my right foot doesnt just have to be there for standing on. final score 8-5 win VS CARLOANS4U (grudge match, as we know them from outside of football so its always a tasty game and were pretty evenly matched) - pretty tired after the first game, fortunately they had also played a game prior to this one too - although theirs was a 16-2 win so i dont think it had the same impact on them. and it showed. first half we didnt really get into the battle and it put us about 4 goals adrift. they were first to the ball and gave us no time on the ball so didnt get to wind up the big left footers like i like. anyhow second half we all put a bit more in and managed to pull it back to a 2 goal difference before the time ran out on us - shame as i think 5 more minutes would have meant a win as we had found our 2nd (or 4th im not sure after 2 games) wind. shame as it means we probably cant win this leage now but we can still go up if we stop losing . **INJURY UPDATE** - knee came through the game fine but foot still hurts - hopefully it will subside over the next few weeks and if not could be a case of taking a month of from everything. ill just keep taking the cortisone injections pre match for now

For what it's worth, everyone, Lefty is a good footballer but he busted his foot about eight years ago whilst playing in a friendly game at Los Zocos in Costa Teguise. The interesting part was that, of course, he played on for a bit and then played a long diagonal pass (with the busted foot) the full length of the pitch, he howled with pain, everyone there looked at him howling, then everyone looked back at the ball to see that he'd played the pass "inch perfect" onto his teammate's shoelace, and they all commented on how perfect it was. If it'd been me, I'd have been sitting down crying with pain, never mind playing on. So, not only a good player but brave, too. (or perhaps too brave) Mind you, it messed up the rest of the holiday for him, shuffling about on crutches all week.

I know i shouldnt blaspheme but it was a bit cantona-esque in terms of precision although really it should be scholesish given the type of pass. but i also scored another 4 goals after that b4 we finished and i couldnt hit a barn door with a banjo earlier in that match. maybe broken metatarsals seem to work for me (although the bad foot certainly didnt help tonite). i wish it had been a big brute of a guy who had broken my foot rather than an 11 year old spanish kid tho although if memory serves correctly the kid did look a bit like bojan - and although the age ties in, i severely doubt it was him

10/12/09 - 5 a side (athletico pathetico) oh dear. no keeper again. and it was a 10 o clock KO. two things that usually signal a poor game for our team. and were are traditionalists. I went in net first half and did quite well - made a few decent saves and my distribution was ok as well. we ended up 5-3 ahead at half time. unfortunately i proved again that my arms aint quite strong enough to be a keeper as i made a fantastic save (one of the only times im gonna ever be able to say that so im gonna enjoy it) as their striker smashed it to my top left corner and i just threw my arm out and got my hand behind it and stopped it dead next to me. unfortunately i did this about 8 months ago when i was in nets again and the ball hyper-extended my elbow (not to the point my elbow snaps or anything but it still bloody hurts!) and it wasnt right again for a good 2 months. anyway same thing 2nite. so ive got a bad elbow to add to the injury list. and im now realising how much of a whingy mard im sounding (less football and more cries for sympathy in this thread now - maybe ill change the subject name ) back to the football, i figured i best not chance the elbow and came out of nets for 2nd half. probably shouldnt have. only managed to bag 1 goal (although it was with the right boot ) smashed from about 15 yards to the keepers near bottom corner - wasnt bad for my weaker foot. but i was a bit sh*t for the rest of the match - good at getting about the opposition but didnt do too much with the ball. anyway we managed to collapse to a 9-7 loss and it was a bit annoying as there was about 4 of their goals that a proper keeper would have kept out but we cant blame our lads as we know were all terrible in nets so we should just be doing more to stop the shots coming at us. bad result as we're better than the team who beat us, but we can only be 3 points behind the leaders now as after 3 games (4 gone now) the table was the bottom 2 teams on 0 points and the other 5 all on 6 points. roll on next week

oops forgot all about this thread 13/12/09 - Barlow FC (11 a side) so after 3 hours sleep on the night of the famous drinking laptop, woke up by my mate calling from outside - he was there to pick me up for our game. oooops. so got dressed and didnt forget my boots (bonus). very hungover. not feelin good at all. freezin cold. so got to our home ground and got changed. anyway then the ref starts saying SHE doesnt like the pitch. it was apparently too frozen in the areas - which was absolute bo***cks but we humoured her and ran across the areas and tore it up to make it a bit 'softer'. anyway after 30 minutes she decided it was a no go and ran off to the changing rooms. so obvious that she had better things to do or maybe she wanted to get a head start on her xmas shopping. god knows but she didnt exactly do much for the female refs in this area who have a bad enough reputation as it is. anyway we watched the first half of a game on the next pitch, wobbling all the while and then got a lift home of the gaffer and proceeded to hit the sofa and sleep for the next 20 hours or so 14/12/09 badminton. im not even gonna try and explain how sh*t i was.

16/12/09 - dynamo's (5 a side) - game postponed til next wednsday nite 17/12/09 athletico (5 a side) only just managed to get 5 players, so while the snow was falling LeFtY ended up stood in goal again. but had a bit of a blinder. now im not gonna say i emulated the great dane, but maybe i put in a kuszczack shift. managed a 7-4 win and one of their goals was a penalty as well which i really should have saved. anyway good performance all round and i think i may have accidentally cemented my place as reserve goalkeeper which could get a bit boring over the next few weeks

11 a side we probably get 2 fans on average - mostly the injured players and their dads. 11 a side as a kid we always used to have loads of parents watching but i think they want their early mornings in bed now were old enough to get places on our own. 5 a side we never have anyone watching except the final 5 mins of a game when the team on the pitch next arrive to wait for us to shift. you thinking of starting a fan club for me?

LOL - I was just interested to know. When I used to go to a youngsters match on a Sunday morning... then yeah, like you say, there were loads of parents there. When I went to a grown ups one - there weren't many. I didn't know if it was the same for you... but obviously it is.

20/12/09 - Barlow 11 a side - called off due to chilly weather 21/12/09 - Badminton - i was so bad im not even gonna mention anymore about it. 23/12/09 - Dynamo Dildo's - tough match tonite against the team i got sent off against (well, sin binned to be correct). only had 5 players so no rest when we normally would sub for us tnite. anyhow the opponents are about 19 or so and have suddenly developed a complex that makes them think that they are the greatest team who has ever graced this planet. before i get into the game i should mention that the sides of the pitch where the boards are that are always so handy for playing 1-2's off were literally 2ft out and 3 foot high in snow, so if the ball went out of control or was passed inaccurately then you had to fish it out of the snow bank. really helpful, but the ref said b4 the game if its in the snow then let the player get it out then cary on. they did not adhere to this rule. anyway after a while we decided if they dont have to then why should we. then they got arsey as we werent lettin them get the ball out. this is the problem with playing against kids. theyre stupid anyhow LeFtY took his shootin boots tonite and scored 7. we won 8-4 or 8-5 so i was happy with my input. the funniest point was when one of the kids said about us beating them (and we hadnt been rubbing it in or giving any smack talk to them) "this is like winning the lottery for you lot beating us aint it" with a scowl on his face. i laughed and agreed that tonight was the pinnacle of my life in or outside of football. what a tosser LeFtY rating = 7/10

30/12/09 Dynamos (5 a side) was last game of the season for us - needed a win to get promoted and drew. went 2-0 up (both me ) one of which was like berbatov's goal against wigan this evening for those of you who mite see it, only mine was obvisouly better cos i didnt do it while trying to look as lazy as possible (just kiddin dimitar your alrite really.....ish). anyhow we managed to bo**ocks it up again and went from 4-1 up to a 4-4 draw which means we mite go up but we also mite go down as the league is tighter than a pair of kylie minogues hot pants! will keep y'all updated on our promotion/relegation battle/outcome LOL LeFtY wont be posting anymore here for at least a bit as his foot is completely buggered and if i play on it anymore i think ill end up walking funny for the rest of my life no 'backdoor love' jokes here pls smokie, i know what your like. im gonna wait til all the drunken fools have cleared out of A&E over the next week and go get it xrayed i think. stupid to carry on like this. fingers crossed
