So... just veggies and meat then? I think I'd be ok although the inspiration might wane a little, so I'd need to find lots of interesting recipes.
I think the toughest thing for me would be going without pasta and rice.

There are thousands! Mrs B has produced some superb stuff. Last night , for instance, red onions stuffed with Feta and herbs. See here on the BBC web site http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/search?&keywords=&x=12&y=9&diets- =vegetarian&sortBy=lastModified. Plus any meat you want, and it doesn't have to be low fat.

Cheers John. Yes I have been doing various searches (my current fave is www.my-dish.co.uk) - but invariably the ones I like the most include ingredients we can't get here... so I end up "making do" anyway, and then I give up. I don't really need to lose much... just get rid of the midriff bloat.

There have been very few items I can't find here. Send me a list, and I'll see if I can get them. (i mean small items, I'm not getting you another complete yak.)

Me because my waist is 38 inches, and the new advice superseding BMI is that a man's waist round the navel should be 37 inches or less (34 for a woman)*, to avoid heart problems associated with a build up of fat around your vital organs. Mrs B must answer for herself, but probably to reduce load on her knees. *For those of you finding you only have a metric tape. 86 cm for ladies, and 94 for men, around the navel, relaxed, no sucking it in.

John that sounds like rubbish advice IMHO as the measurement must be relative to your height and weight and overall body size. It can't be the same for everyone.
There must be some men who couldn't get down to 37 if they were starving to death and others for whom that would be way too fat.

Well, Google it, Josie, see what the NHS, Australian NHS, BMA say. In fact the consensus for ladies seems to be 32 inches, which is 8 inches more than Leslie Phillips went Phwarr about. BMI was discredited, since most Rugby union pros would fail. Added to that, sitting here, I can grasp a handful of fat in my middle, and I'd rather not be able to, otherwise Hollywood will abandon me.

Well my waist measures just under 32 inches so does that make me thin?
I don't think so as I'm easily a stone overweight for my height and build!

You're not too heavy, just perhaps underheight . Perhaps a lawyer's brain is heavy. Anyway, I want to be able to climb 1000 feet without stopping to pant.

No loss or gain this week, I've been quite good but the weights not shifting very well. I do believe the older you get the harder it is to lose the weight ( well in my case it is) . Weight used to drop off easily when I did slimming world not at the mo, anyway I will trundle on with it. A little bit a Zumba tomorrow may help. Well -5lb is good I know but more and faster please Good luck to all, keep up the good work.

I find aeroplanes quite useful in this respect, if a little pricey!
