There's nothing to beat a Greek style tomato salad with feta onions and olives with gorgeous extra virgin olive oil drizzled over the top though.

Lovely!

Yum ! I usually prefer to also add cucumber and green bell pepper though (well,... not really a tomato salad anymore, but a Choriatiki.)

As to olive oil: Unfortunately, "extra virgin" isn't a guarantee of quality anymore these days - that is here in Germany. Sad

Do you guys have any favourite olive oils ?

Teeamo I only described the salad like that as I also hate cucumber so in Greece if I order a horiatiki salad I always leave the cucumber and if I make it myself I don't put any in.

It's been ~1 year since I bought olive oil from Lidl. I think the name was "Italiamo" back then - if I remember correctly. Is it still the same ? Probably not, since it was around 6€, which is rather expensive for a discount supermarket, right ? I'm not even sure if the product range in Germany and the UK are the same... ?

Nothing wrong with your description, Josie. The part in brackets was self-addressed since I ran slightly off the topic. I mean... it was about TOMATO salad ! Wink

What's the reason behind the cucumber hate ? The taste, the consisency/texture  - or even both ?

I like cucumber finely chpped in yoghurt with mint and, perhaps garlic and or cumin.  It crops up named differently in various national cuisines.
