morning all...
right i want to get up to speed on everything as quick as i can with the best possible advice.
where is the best place to start looking for a place to live with me still being in the uk still?
where is the best place to live?
where is the best job opportunities?
where is the best schools? my child is 3 and want to get him sorted thats a big thing.
help please......... Roll Eyes

Ok..
The only places to look from the UK are online estate agencies. Have a chat with Gemma at Lanzarote Investments (lanzaroteinvestments.com) is my suggestion. You can also check the lanzarote gazette online.
Best place to live. That depends on what you want. Spanish places that may be a car are going to be cheaper than places near main resorts and that are set up for expats with pools etc.
The jobs unless you speak fluent spanish are in the main tourist resorts of playa blanca, puerto del carmen and costa teguise.
Schools I have no idea on but I'm sure others will.

Are they not including bills Craig? Hmmmm. Ah well - if you have a good deal on the rent, then fair enough. I hope you haven't gone for a property that you have just seen a photo of. I hope that you know the exact area... and have gone with an informed decision. Trust me - it makes a difference!

Electric and water depends on whether you have a pool or not hon. Which is it? And also whether you have heating and / or aircon.

Craig,
As Elle says electric or water varies greatly dependant on a few things. When I was looking some quoted average bills of 50 euro's a month..others 200 a month.
With respect to Dr Robert I'd not sign a long term contract unless you are sure Costa Teguise is where you want/need to be for schools/work.

hi elle
yeah bills are included in my rental figure so it looks like we will be in costa teguise sometime at back end of april and we cannot wait to meet some new friends out in lanzarote. just need to get everything tied up here at home in the coming weeks.

will crack on now putting the floaters about for employment when we get there..........

Hi Craig if you are living in costa teguise there is a local primary school there, i think matriculation for the coming school year is around april/may time. If your child will be 4 before the end of the year he will be joining class 4 in september.
best to go to the school, its near the water park, with a translator if necessary when you get here. most schools have summer classes too so your little one can make friends and learn the lingo before starting in sept

hi craig
we went on hol and fell in love with the place so bought an apartment it was a very big descision but we are finally ready to start putting our plans into action would you think of maybe buying an apt the spanish intrest rates are very low we bought for 65000 and altough the apt needs a bit of work mostly powder and paint and furniture the payments are only 320 a month ikea is very good and cheap  for furniture etc but if we decide to leave the apt could go up for rental to cover the mortgage since we bought our apt in january we have already got offers on it for 83000 and the bank has it valued at 10800 but i have to warn you it may be cheaper than renting but your heart has to be in it and it does take a lot of research you must must have everything in writing just because someone tells you something it dont mean its true banks ,estate agents etc willtell you anything you want to her  tell them you want anything they say in writing signed before you even think of signing anything your self we did all the paper work from ireland and just had to go over to sign but tere are plenty of apts to let no offence anyone but if you had your own villa would you have to do the cleaning of he pool etc your self and if you have a three year old you can get an apt with a gate so she cant escape on you and venture near the pool when your not looking hope this helps Smiley
