Thank you all for your opinions. We didn't ask lightly - and are grateful for all your honesty - positive and negative, the last thing we wanted was everyone agreeing to keep us happy.... For us we've put a lot of time into this forum and given the number of hits it gets from non members and members, it presents us with the opportunity to make a little extra money to help us keep the site going. I'm sure everyone appreciates our need to make a living! Smiley Each click on Google makes us a few pennies, and if people purchase from the advertising - it doesn't amount to much over a year - but lets say for instance it might be enough to keep the dogs fed!

We do feel very much it's your forum too - which is why we asked for your opinions. The last thing we want to do is frighten anyone off... From the responses, we don't think that's going to happen. Thank you!

But, we are going to tone it down a little - we've removed the banner from the bottom which we agreed was a little to much. It now only shows in the welcome bar, which for those of you that really hate it can be hidden if you click the little minus sign to the right of the date at the top right.

Also taken on-board some of the other comments...

Steve: BA, yes you're absolutely right - gone.

Rich: Jessops was included as it's a photo store and related to holidays.

And, we'll always be interested to hear via PM if anyone spots things that should or shouldn't be there.

We promise: The one banner is all that will ever be there, it won't go any further than this, and wherever possible we'll be restricting the advertising to Canaries and general travel related advertisers. You won't be seeing any get rich quick nonsense or how to wipe you debts out legally kind of crap...

Hope everyone can live with this.

That makes it a perfect arrangement for everyone.

Hi Elle,

Couldn't see them using my usual browser (Firefox) as it's got "Adblock Plus" - obviously works then!

Logged in with Explorer and the ads don't bother me in the slightest.

Good tip Allan M - at home we're fighting over whether Firefox or Google Chrome are the best web browsers!

Josie,

I've tried Explorer, Opera, Safari, Chrome and Firefox. I prefer Firefox, with Opera as a close second, but it's probably highly subjective!

We like Firefox too - although we test websites in most browsers to check they display correctly.
