once a Knutjob always a Knutjob

« on: March 17, 2010, 23:30:51 PM »

Couldnt believe it today , i havent been gambling on the cheltenham festival but just uusing the £1 bets with Ladbrokes in The Sun , yesterday 1 bought 2 papers and put £1 to win on sizing europe , and cam out with £6 and £1 on a tip on a 40/1 outsider and didnt get jack sh*t so 50 p spent £6 gain £5.50 profit

so today again i buy the paper twice as there are 2 ladddies in Altrincham where i work and put 1 bet of 50p e/w on Sir Normean ormesher which came about 6th or 7th and then i decided i would do a double so i had all in my mind Big Zeb till i got to the bookies and decided no stick with Master minded which i doubled with Rite of passage , thinking i have a second leg banker

a couple of minutes later when just getting to the office Julie rings top say our big punting mate had given us a tip , Amnesty somerthing she said , so i looked at it was weapons amnesty ih i had got that before i would have put big zeb with it as it was a 10/1 shot , so my thinking on a double best not stick a so called banker on the bet

yep they boyh came in and if i had stuck to my guns and got the call a few minutes early i would be £121 up all for 25p

bit pi**ed off hope he gives me a good one tommorrow he had done well so far  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

While I'm not saying I don't believe you Sam I will say it's a classic piece of aftertiming by someone who should know better. (you must have heard it a thousand times in your hills days)

Why not post your selections BEFORE the races?  Wink

I know bugger all about betting to be honest even though i worked for hills i never ever bet apart from freebies  i am only using the free bets because ladrokes are in the town i work for , today i got sod all after his tip , shame really as the 2nd place in the4.40 was owned by someone i know from my hills days and i didnt know it was running

my own opinion after spending a few years at hills is betting is a mugs game and those machines are even worse i have seen so many people put a ton or more on a sure fire and its gone pearshaped and as for the machines , they can get very nasty

I used to play the old fruities quite a bit - never won much... but as I'd always put a limit on how much I'd put in (usually £5) then I never lost much. Have seen people blow the rent on them!

Only ever placed one bet on a horse - thought I knew better and put a tenner on it to win, instead of each way (which I was told to do). It came in second Cheesy But then when have I ever listened? Grin

I have to say betting scares me, I can easily see how it can become addictive and difficult to control.  But if you can control it and enjoy a flutter then it is great fun.

As you probably know I have an annual trip to Beverley races, with my pre-set fund and that's a fantastic day out.

Having seen it at it's worst I never gamble on anything other than one line on the lottery once week....
