There have been a few changes down at the old Inn Plaice and it has now reopened as "Tasca de Tapas" by Steffan (from the British Open a few years ago) ... he is offering an international menu with a difference British, Irish, German & Spanish dishes all done in a tapas style! He'll also be bringing in late night food (burgers and the first FRESH kebabs in Playa Blanca) as well as his famous metre long sausage! Had a great early evening there last night to try out the "goulash" and he even made a vegetarian pasta salad (especially for the lovely Sharon Loughran) ... nice cold beer and cheap as chips and so we'll be back!

Good luck Stefan! xxxx

Does anyone know whether Tasca de Tapas is open on Thursday evenings and if so, from what time ?
Lefty and Righty are keen to try it but it wasn't open when they called the other evening.

Yes - it's supposed to be open every day except Sunday. Should be from 4pm. At least that's what Stefan's plans are - if he closes at the last minute we won't necessarily know I'm afraid.

I don't know how I missed the original post by Phil but I did.
So has anybody else been since it has opened?

Oh dear Smokie. Can I hear the ominous rumblings of discontent?

Hey, not neccessarily, but Mrs smokie is on her computer and I've pulled rank and got on this one so Lefty hasn't had a chance to post anything since we got in.
It'll be up to him if he wants to post anything, when I get my fat **** off the chair.

Not discontent, it just wasnt right for us 2nite.

unfortunately cant really give a proper assessment of the place, went to go eat there and as we came in we were welcomed and we picked a table to sit at, ordered a beer and a sangria and then set about perusing the menu. drinks came and then we didnt get asked about food for a while (and i was in one of those moods where if it aint getting sorted quick enough ill just move on) and the menu seemed to not be anything like we had expected it to be so then decided we would go elsewhere. so as we neared finishing our drinks the owner came over and i set about letting him know we were gonna have b shooting off shortly to meet someone, and only then were we engaged in a conversation and ended up having a chat for another 10/15 mins with the owner who seems like an absolutely smashing chap during which he clued us in to a load of stuff that wasnt (a) on the menu or (b) wasnt clear on the menu, but having already made excuses for leaving (and not wanting to have to double back on what i had said) and deciding that the desire for our custom wasnt as eager as it has been elsewhere we moved on  Sad shame really as if it had been a better start when we came in then we no doubt would have stayed and would have stuck 30/40 euro's in the till. if i was to critique it properly then that would be my main point and also to alter the menu as it was a laminated A4 page which would have been fine only if it had mentioned everything he told us about afterwards on there.

Honestly im not having a pop at the place, seemed clean and nice bit of background music, and the fact he came over eventually and we had a really nice chat and were clued in to the unmentioned items, means that we are gonna go and try it out if we have time before we leave and the fact that he does proper kebabs means that if we go out saturday i will without shadow of a doubt be popping in for one  Grin

so a proper review is still pending  Smiley

Life is complicated isn't it LeFtY!

I think the best idea is to spend more time in Lanzarote to be able to try out everywhere and get used to the relaxed service you get at lots  of places.

I think LeFtY & my own good man are on similar wavelengths when it comes a grumbling tummy!

The only time we had a significant wait for grub was the time we ate at Romantica, but unlike LeFtY's experience we had already ordered when the countdown to food began.  Almost an hour to starters from what I remember.

I think it's easier for us ladies to suffer the belly rumbles and sip our drinks, but when a man's gotta eat, a man's gotta eat!
