We plan of visiting the Timanfaya National Park but I wondered if they're any more essential trips out there.  I like the look of the Submarine trip although it does look quite pricey for what is basically an hour journey.

Thanks

Go to the Fundacion Cesar Manrique at Tahiche.  You can Google it.  The underground volcanic bubbles are straight out of Austin Powers.  The Cactus Garden is brilliant, or if you want something free, go to El Golfo and see the green lake that Raquel Welch swam in One million Years BC. Then park in Femes, and climb up the ridge to your right when facing up the valley - it's about a 5 minute grunt, but the views are incredible - you'll see the real Lanzarote, not the man made attractions.  Then you can have a beer in one of the bars! Go to Famara, and look at the surfers, and the 2000 ft cliffs, magnificent.

Are you hiring a car Markol? That will really widen your options. If not, then do one of the Island tours. You can do a North Tour, South Tour, or Grand Tour.

We will be either on foot, on a bus or in a taxi for everything we do.  I do like the sound of that Fundacion Cesar Manrique though - I'm going to look into that.

Cheers

From Costa - you could do it by taxi. I would guess at about €8 - €10 each way to Cesar's place.

We did the Grand tour and thought it was worth the money......word of warning though....if you don't like heights (like me) then think carefully before you book it LOL.
We've also done the submarine trip and I did enjoy that too however we made the mistake of booking through the Thomas Cook rep and should really have gone to Last Minute Travel as they offer the trip at a slightly cheaper price......sorry but I can't remember how much cheaper.
We also went to Fundacion Cesar Manrique which again is worth a visit.
Hope you find something  Wink
