I have got Internet banking, swear by it, but but afraid of logging on another PC in case of fraud etc. Never done it before? Is it safe?

No there isn't, but I think you can query your account from any hole in the wall.  Alternatively, you'll know what DDs are due whilst you're away, and keep a track on what you spend, then you'll be OK.  I did it for years before internet banking.

No HSBC on the island, there is a Barclays in Arrecife which I went to with a friend, only to find out their systems aren't linked to the UK so they are effectively a separate entity....

Personally I'd never login to Internet banking except from my own or a trusted computer. Definitely not from an Internet Cafe.

I absolutely agree with Alan on not logging on. Anytime you share a connection (even a secure one) anyone else could if they know what they are doing access you banking screen etc. You also should be aware that anywhere that has there own server (computer) can log the details you enter. Sorry don't mean to scare anyone but those are the facts.

I agree too, I'm sure that, with a bit of forward planning, you should be able to know what's going out of your account for the week or two you're out here.  I'd avoid using my internet banking on any computer except my own (or possibly Mrs B's if pushed!)
