i am currently in the process of up and leaving the UK, hopefully getting everything sorted and moving out to Lanzarote in the near future.
i was hoping if anyone knew where i could get a job, bar job?
is it best for me to go into a local bar and ask for work?

my partner is a DJ and is a great entertainer, does anyone know if it will be easy for him to get a job over there?

if anyone can help this will be much appreciated!!

Many thanks in advance  Grin

The best way to find a job is to get here and walk around the bars asking for work. Very unlikely you'd be able to find a job before you get here. It might take time, but if you're determined you should turn something up.

As an entertainer, your boyfirends best bet is much the same, maybe offering a couple of ffreebies to show people how good he is.

Make sure you have some savings to cover you in the meantime and you should be okay. Where are you planning to move to?

I'll back Bart with his words there ... the islands are quite at this time of the year and many entertainers and part-time bar staff have less gigs and hours to work. Although there will be a pick up over Xmas and New Year it does then go very quiet in the early part of the year until end of Feb or March.
I always suggest to people that they come out giving themselves a few weeks to find work but not being afraid to return home if nothing materialises ... for your information I have had over 15 people walk in asking for work in the past week and some of them I know from living out here!
The best time to move out to pick up work is end of spring when businesses will be setting themselves up for the summer, with Euro2008 next year then bars will take on extra staff to cover the day games and so a little time before this will be your best bet if you can wait that long.
As for your partner ... does he have his own equipment (is he karaoke dj or entertainer as in singer?) ... most bars will ask that the entertainment brings their own equipment in and there are few bars that require a fulltime DJ ... but again ask around is your best bet!
Hope that has been some help and post again if you have more questions and I'm sure we'll help you out!
