Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and thought I would introduce myself. My wife Claire and I recently purchased an apartment at Matagorda Bay in July and are really pleased with our decision to buy somewhere on the Island. We normally go to Gran Canaria and came to Lanzarote by chance this January and fell in love with the Island. We had no intentoin of buying anywhere but there you go.We are keeping the apartment for our own use only and are coming out about every six to ten weeks.

Hi Phil and welcome to the Forum.
Your story sounds similar to mine in so much as we used to go to the other Islands (Tenerife mainly) and one day I came home from work and my Wife had booked Lanzarote. She said "I hope you like it but it says it can be a little quiet" Turns out it was in Matagorda and I fell in love with the Island and we keep coming back although we haven't purchased our own place.
Keith.

hey Phil - welcome to the forum.
I'm another Matagorda fan, but like Madstock dont have my own place. I had heard of Matagorda Bay before but never actually knew where the apartments were until my recent visit - we stayed around the corner on a site called Las Marinas. We walked up to the top of the hill by the roundabout and then down some rough steps along the side of Matagorda Bay, in the direction of Costa Sal so that we could catch the bus into town, so now I know exactly where Matagorda Bay is!
Somebody else on this forum was looking into the same complex but as yet I dont think he's made a move - he's down in Puerto Calero.

Thank you so much guy's for your kind replies,it is much appreciated. We used to stay in PDC which we like very much but in Matagorda you get the best of both worlds.Nice and quiet, good walk or bus into PDC,nice cycle into Areciffe or Deiland and some nice bars and restaurants in Los Poccillos. We are new to the forum and introduced ourselves today,we have been going to PDC for the last twelve months, although have visited a few times before over the years. Anyway we have booked a villa in PB on the 16th Jan for a week and are really looking forward to it. We love it here and although still love PDC we wanted to try something different,well.....after 6 visits in 12 months to PDC I think it was about time, have been to other locations in Spain but the sun does shine more here....dont you think. We are retired...just!! and love travelling, we did own our own place in La Manga (mainland) for over 8 yrs but sold it last year as we got bored going to the same place, haaaaaaaaaaa what have we done...yep starting going to the same place in the name of Lanzarote. We have asked for recommendations as per restaurants in PB and Faro Park where we shall be staying so answers on a postcard please. Although retired we are not fuddy duddy and love grooving on down with anyone who feels the same,as I always say ''when the nails are in the coffin it is to late' so dont think poor old gits we can send then to .........? The more exciting the better for us,oh by the way I have my own teeth, eyes,no wooden legs and most importantly my faculties, am only 61 after all, still young . So looking forward to visiting PB in just over a week and hopefully may bump into one or two of you whilst there. Adios y hasta la vista x Squiggs

Helloooo Squiggs Another warm "northern" welcome to the forum (for my sins I'm on the other side of the pennines) You just boogie on down to Playa Blanca matey....You'll love it. Havin said that, I'm a Puerto Del Carmen man myself but.... I have been down to PB on numerous occasions to visit certain loonies friends from the forum Its a grand place Squiggs. Plenty of bars, restaurants and lovely lovely people....... Never mind about being 61.....nowt wrong with that.... Last year at Christmas and new year, I spent a crackin fortnight in PDC in the company of two fantastic people from Wales; Peter n Marge, who were both in their 70s !! Peter n Marge were there every night (and day) in the thick of the action.....well....in the Galleon mostly, but we had a crackin time nonetheless... What was the line by Andy Dufraine in the film Shawshank Redemption ? "You either get busy livin, or ya get busy dyin"..... and none of us want to be dooin the latter !! I'm the same as Silly, can't really offer advice on PB, but no doubt Elle n the PB gang will be along shortly. You just have a great time Squiggs..... Mick
