I arranged a trip to Lanzarote for a 30th Birthday celebration and there were 18 of us.

I contacted Woodleys prior to going to make pre-book as I know we wouldn't stand much chance just turning up on the night. I struggled a little to get a reply via email and reverted to FB and still couldn't get a response, but eventually with the help of the people at Canary Nightlife I got a confirmation of the booking for last Friday evening.

Bryan greeted us and knew who we were when we arrived and remembered my name which I thought was a nice touch. By the way as a PR he isn't pushy at all so I dispute anyone who suggests he is, he's just plain friendly and keen to please.

They had reserved us 4 large tables in the enclosed archway section of the restuarant and even decorated with baloons which again was a nice touch. The orders were taken swiftly and any advice you need on particular dishes was given and the staff were very informative and helpful. They were also happy to slightly amend dishes if requested.

Generally there's a good mix of dishes but not so many it's daunting. Between all 18 of us we must have tried the entire menu and not one of us were disappointed. The fillet steaks are out of this world, quality cuts of meat. Ribs, fantastic and both chicken dishes sublime. The big fav here was their famous mash, a pleasant change from chips and lovely and creamy. We shared starters per table as the portions on the main meals are generous & couldn't manage a homemade desert.

Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food, it may well seem slightly more expensive than a few other places but the food & service is second to none.

We had planned a Chinese for Monday night, but on taking a poll of everyone on the Friday night we ALL agreed we wanted to come back to Woodleys instead, that say's it all I think and they were more than happy to accommodate us again.

Second time was as equal to the first and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Woodleys. Make the trip along there and you wont regret it.

An excellent review Sapph - and I'm so pleased it all went well for you! Happy belated birthday to the 30 year old too!

I've been trying to get up there myself, but I am not always in Carmen at the right times to catch places like these. Will keep trying though!

We popped in a week last Thursday, about 8.30. We had arrived at the Barcarola about 30 mins earlier and were famished. We both ordered fillet steaks with mixed veg and chips.
The steak was really nice, cooked as we had asked. The place was very pleasant and the prices very fair.

Why do they let themselves down by serving diced mixed veg. incl. sweetcorn, which was obviously out of a tin together with chips very similar to Mac.D's.

We would have gone back several times if the rest of the meal had been the same standard as the steak.
Sorry for moaning but I am telling it as it is.

I've been informed that Woodleys has closed down & has been for over 2 months  Embarrassed I for one will be sad if this is the case. It must be terribly quiet down at that end with the Grasshopper pub next door long closed down as well.

Yes it's definitely been closed the last few times that I've been in PDC.There was a sign up saying "Closed for an extended period" for a while but I'm not sure if it's still there - it certainly looks as if it's closed for good

Great news  Grin I contacted Claire the owner through their website & have been informed that they are only temporarily closed due to the ill health of Claire's husband. But they will re-open in the next few weeks  Wink
