Hache Grande is the highest mountain in the Ajaches -562 Metres or 1850 feet for people like me. It's not as high as the Atalaya, but there is no track up it. It's a real scramble over mud and rocks that crumble underfoot - a horrible ascent, and worse descent.   I climbed it today with Irish Colleen and Clanky because there was the perfect combination of good vis, cloud cover (it's hard work!) and no wind (which would be dangerous).  We rang Elle from the top.  It was a little odd there, because there were three people in their early twenties, one of whom was dressed in a stag costume, including the head and antlers.  I have no idea!. Here are some piccies.

Stunning views, definitely well worth the climb which, as John says was bloody hard work, but not for the faint hearted, the walk to the bottom of Hache Grande wasn't exactly easy!

I thought that but decided John only posted pics of those certain people he referred to in his post ie Clanky and Irish Coleen?

I was going to go on that outing with those three other people but it sounded like a bit of a deer do so I thought I'd leave it.

You'd have been too knackered to smoke!  I didn't get the camera out in time to photograph the stag, and they didn't seem inclined to talk, so I couldn't ask him/her to put the head back on.  There were some amazingly cute baby goats, though. See this.

If you do try, go in a party of at least three in case there is an accident. It's very difficult going up, and worse coming down because the ground is so unstable, and it's steep enough that if you loose your footing you are going to go a couple of hundred feet down through boulders. It really doesn't compare to most hills of similar height and steepness in UK because of the ground.

I won't be doing that walk then - because of the downhill bit. Eek!
