Oh well another one over.
Thanks to all who gave info and tips regards Matagorda, we were not disappointed. The Trattatoria Timbayba was really great and we went more than once. We went into the Sapporo (first time in a Japanese restaurant) and were wowed by the food. First visit we tried Teppanyaki and got the full treatment on the hotplate. Our next visit saw us go for the Sushi 'Boat'. What an experience- highly recommended.
Visited a few old haunts, Emma's Cantina obviously and at last met up with the charming Elle. All those years of ships passing in the night and we eventually caught up. A truly lovely young lady.
Slight downside was the fighting waiters at the harbour restaurants. Trade seems so desperate that the front men started bitching at each other and it ended up in blows and even the police called. We were told by one woman that she had eat at the Harbour places 3 times and on each occasion rows had erupted. She wont be going back.
Another hot October and the Nautilus was a fantastic place to stay. Clean, near the Matagorda centro and even had a supermarket on site in reception. Planes were not a nuisance despite being only 5 mins from Arrecife airport.
Just getting ready to book the next one.

Great that you enjoyed your trip and got to meet Elle!

Timbaya has been going strong for years  and years (know to all of us as the Steakhouse) and gets a great repeat clientele. Love teppanyaki at Sapporo also.

Things must be tough in the harbour restaurants by what you have said  Not good to hear.
