Hi there, I'm new to the forum and also new to Lanzarote. We usually go to Tenerife at the end of November every year for a bit of winter sun but fancied a change this year, so I went ahead and booked a villa in Playa Blanca, I may have been a little hasty but it looked so beautiful, the price was right and the only 2 weeks it was empty were the 2 weeks we wanted to go.
After reading reviews about the island it seems that PB is the really quiet resort and although the majority of the daytime we'll be spending around the pool at the villa we've rented, we would also like a bit of life at night time. Obviously not clubbing because we've got 2 young'uns with us (2 couples in our 30s) but maybe a cluster of bars with different entertainment? Have I dropped a clanger in booking PB or is there a few places like this?
Thanks in adavance for your help.

Dave, There are bars and entertainment in playa blanca it's not a ghost town at night. Sure it's not full on like pdc though. I'm sure Elle and the other playa blancian's will recommend the best area and bars for you.

Hiya Davenshell and welcome to the forum. My quick answer would be no. Granted, there isn't as many bars as Las Americas but there is enough to do with plenty of places with entertainment. We too also have 2 young'uns (8 & 2) and we all love PB. PB is known as the more chilled out resort, but i'm sure you'll love it. Where in PB you staying and are you hiring a car?

Wow - wasn't expecting replies THAT quickly. Thanks for them chaps. Glad its not a ghost town richt71, you've put my mind at rest a bit. We've got a car for the 2 weeks ethans-dad but won't be using it at night time for obvious reasons. And we're staying just off Calle Europa (apparently its 15-20 min walk to the town??). If you know it, wheres closest to here with a few bars etc??

I know Calle Europa, I stay a few streets away. It is about 15-20 min walk (stroll) into town. A couple of places i'd recommend would be Wax Bar (head into town, onto the front and turn left, it's near Burger King) and another would be the Irish Anvil (again, into town and turn right, just past the harbour) Both very friendly places, and the Anvil does a wicked breakfast If you head towards the lighthouse you'll find Faro Park, with a row of bars & restaurants, and a personal favourite of mine-Le Moka, does the most amazing coffee & cakes.

Ha ha ha ha - jokers!
Don't worry Davenshell - you'll still be able to find plenty to keep you busy of an evening. You've been given good recommendations so far. Just come out of Calle Europa up to the mini roundabout. Turn left and then you can either cut across the waste ground which brings you out at the ferry... or carry along the road a bit and cut through the houses (it's obvious where to walk through) which brings you out behind the Bus station. The ferry is next to Punta Limones which has the Irish Anvil, Legends, Rooftops, Popeyes and a couple of other places. An hour or so's stroll to the right will have you at Faro Park which is where you'll usually find a few members from this forum causing mischief and grabbing a bite to eat.
Or when you reach the ferry, turn left and you're in the town centre in a moment or two. Walk along the prom for lots of lovely restaurants... keep going for about 15 minutes anbd you'll reach CC Papagayo, which is a commercial centre behind Playa Dorada. It's also known as the Burger King complex as a landmark. In there are Wax Bar and a few other bars - you'll be spoilt for choice love. Another 10 to 15 mintes walk again... past CC Papagayo and you'll be at the Marina Rubicon with lots of restaurants and a few chill out bars.
As has been said, it's not PDLA - but there's still a party happening somewhere every night.
Elle xx
PS: I'm biased because I live in Playa Blanca... but you'll be fine. You staying in Parque del Rey on Calle Europa? I used to live there when we first moved over.

Agree with everything that folks have said before. Playa Blanca gives you the choice to be as busy or as lazy as you want to be. Would add in The Old Mill (centre of town accessed from the stairs just down from the end of the taxi rank at the roundabout with the anchor) for a bit of craic and live music too. And both Buskers and Mollies in the Papagayo Centre. Good for entertainment and karaoke some nights. Also something that a lot of folk may not think of is the live entertainment in the big hotels. You don't have to be a resident to attend those and some of them are great fun. We went to see comedy/acrobatic artists in the Hotel Playa Dorada (just up from Princesa Yaiza .... which everybody knows as a landmark) and it was a lovely way to pass an hour or so. We walked along checking out the boards in the hotels in the afternoon, to see what was on, and then made our choice. I'm sure you'll have a ball in Playa Blanca, and if you get the car as people have suggested to you already you will have lots of opportunities to go to more places that the children would enjoy too, such as Texas Rancho Park Zoo which is really lovely. The bird park is cool too up at Guinate, depending on the ages of the children of course. Small ones might not appreciate it quite as much. Have fun anyhow!
