Banks in Lanzarote, are they slow clearing foreign cheques?

Am only asking as I earn most of my money from Amazon.com, my payments from France/UK/Germany come through as direct payment but for .com I am sent a cheque from America, I then take it to my bank (HSBC) who then send it back to the American bank asking if Amazon have enough money to cover the cheque so takes about 2 weeks to clear, anyone have experience of this?

No experience with foreign cheques, but judging by everything else in Lanzarote, double the amount of time that it takes in the UK and then add some.

We get our sterling cheques cleared in a week here... but stepson had a tax cheque from the UK that took 3 weeks. They told us ahead of time but I don't know why this one was different.

Our Google cheques take about a week (5 working days) if that helps? However, these are in sterling not US Dollars.

Cool, they seem to be about avarage then, for the past 6 months they only took 2 days to clear (I think even UK cheques being banked in the UK take longer), but every time I pay one in they always tell me they can take up to 6 weeks to clear
