I don't want to come over and speak to the locals in English, are there many classes to teach Spanish?

At the moment I can speak English and Welsh and believe you can only pick up languages at a young age, I was rubbish at German n school so am only looking to learn basic Spanish Smiley

the email address is info@academia-lanzarote.com - they do various courses from intensive to conversational and much more - dont have any idea if they are good or not - just an add I saw  Smiley

There's loads here from private tutors, paid classes and even local government sponsored classes. He says having not got round to it yet after 2 years!  Lips sealed

Yeah loads of options to choose from. I'm currently doing the free classes funded by the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall). It's a real mix of people... probably half a dozen Brits, 2 or 3 Chinese, 1 Morroccan and about 8 Indian. They begin around October time each year.

Rich - it took me 5 years of "winging it" before I decided to do it properly. I know loads of words but my grammar is poor... so hoping it will help.

Cheers all, I will probably go with the free classes Smiley

You can give yourself a good start by using the BBC learning resources here

You can work through the various courses at your own speed and repeat as many times as you like, these should get you to a level where you can at least do the important stuff like order beer.
