Hi, no doubt someone on here will help me, by answering the following questions.
We are due to land on Xmas eve ( late evening ), so i am guessing that the major supermarkets will have closed.
When do they re-open ? Also, is the Teguise open air market on, on Sunday 26th December ? Thanks Guys

Christmas day is not a big day for the Spanish. The Supermarkets will be open Christmas Day. Not sure about the market but I would be surprised if its not on.

Thanks for your quick replies, and sorry about the mix up in days. We are definately flying out on the Saturday.
I have found the web site for 'Deiland' but at the mo it only has November's opening hours. I thought most of the supermarkets were closed on Sunday which is Xmas day, purely because it is Sunday but if anyone knows of one which is open on Sunday please let us know, as we'll have to do a shop. Thanks Smiley

Hi, we are staying in Guime. If anyone does know of a supermarket which is open on Xmas day, this would be great as it would save time, which would mean more chillin out time aroound the pool. We've got a good knowledge of the island and don't mind travelling but don't fancy going from one supermarket to another if you get what i mean.

There's a little supermarket in Guime itself - but Hiperdino at the Deiland should be opn. Failing that - there's a big Hiperdino on the other side of the dual carriageway hon. xxx

Thanks Elle, for the info.  So does anyone know if Teguise market is on ?  Everytime we have visited Lanzarote, I always promise myself a nice handbag from the 'lucky lucky' men at the market and back out at the last moment. I suppose the Rubicon market will be on midweek at Playa Blanca, so i can always try my luck there.

Your nearest big Hiperdino is at the bottom of the hill down from Guime to the LZ2 and the airport.  At the bottom of the hill there is an ugly concrete works.  Turn sharp left on the seaward side of that, and go along the roughish track (which soon turns  back to tarmac), passing some warehouses and a toy shop, the back of Hiperdino is on your right, so turn right at the end then right again into the their car park.  I'm pretty sure that will be open.  You'll find it here http://www.hiperdino.es/localizador.

Hi All. Just an update on the opening hours of supermarkets on Xamas day (Sunday). I sent an email to the Deiland centre and quickly received a reply :

I am sorry but on Sunday the 25th the shops and hiperdino will be closed, just our cine, bowling and restaurants are going to open.

Kind regards,

Thanks for that.  A useful contact.  I'm arriving latish on Christmas Eve (juat before 7pm) but Mr J arrives several hours earlier so I'm hoping that he will buy anything we need.  We're going to be eating out on Christmas day evening and friends who have just vacated our place have left food with long enough sell by dates in the fridge and freezer so I hope it's going to be an easy start to my hol!
