Hiya guys...

Are there any "do's and dont's" regarding getting a mobile phone when we move over.....?
Also, does anyone know the best place to go, and are the phones usually on contract or are can you get "pay as you go"?

Thanks in advance, and help would be appreciated...I'd hate to tie myself into a contract when there could be something better out there!

Counting down the days now till we move.... can't wait!

Cheers,
Juejue xx

Get your UK phone unlocked before you arrive love - then you can just pop a PAYG sim into it. Most companies will transfer your PAYG number onto their contract as they want the business. So come over... get settled... and worry about contracts later on xxx

The cheapest one seems to be Masmovil, which is sold by Ikea. It uses the Orange net, and normally costs me beteeen €2 and €4 per month.

so John do tell - for your 2-4€ a month do I take it youuse it for occasional use?? - also I take it you need to go into Ikea for the sim, how often do you  need to top up - I only ask as my Movistar one only needs topping up every 6 months if not used very much - sorry for the questions - but your best placed to answer!!!! - thanks on advance  Smiley

Yes, we have a landline too, and so I usually only use it to phone home when I've forgotten what I'm shopping for, or when I'm out walking.  You can read about it and apply for it here.  http://www.masmovil.es/index-eng   I'm not sure about the 6 month rule,  since I use every month but that seems to affect most providers.  I applied at a desk in IKEA, before I saw the web site.   I chose automatic payments, so they just take it by direct debit monthly- having first alerted me by e mail.  You can see or download a record of all your calls and costs.

A BIG thanks for that John - I'll look into it tomorrow - and it would be used almost monthly so shouldn't be a problem
