Back home now and telling my friends about the quality of the fresh fish we ate in El Golfo. They all asked if the golf course was good??!!?? I told them there wasnt a course. When I was questioned about the origin of El Golfo's name I drew a blank so can anybody help??

the literal translation is 'gulf' so i presume its because it's in a gulf of the sea.but i'm sure someone else has a prettier reason!! lol

Yep - El Golfo means the gulf.

My online dictionary gives the meaning of gulf as a portion of the sea or ocean partly enclosed by land.  The name could refer to the green pool.
