Is anyone using it? Supposed to give you free chat/texts between smart phones irrespective of the country the phone contract is based in or where the phone is in the world. So far Ive used it for messages to UK phones in the UK but am about to trial it in Lanzarote for those "when are we meeting, what are you doing, why are you late" type social messages. So far the only people I know have got it are a Spanish friend and an English friend who is over there on holiday.

Well it works, as you say, not sure who pays or how - is it only Wifi, in which case I understand. Not sure I trust it though.
Surprised to see how many people I know that it added to my favourites.

me me me!!!! And you know I've got it too! Its quite clever because once you install it on your phone it can automatically tell you which of your friends in your contacts list already have it I use it quite a lot, instead of texting if the relevant friends have it. I've got a couple of friends who have it in Lanza so its great for keeping in touch with them as it means no text charges!

It's not only wifi - must use phone signal too - not sure if 3G needed - presumably. Will experiment over there. Perhaps it's the same technology that the Kindle uses for free downloads abroad?

Been speaking to the boys, it's wifi or 3G but you'll have to pay .for the 3G in the normal way.

So is that more or less expensive than sending a text then? To answer my own question probably depends on the contract.

There's also viber and live profile,, same sort of thing,, I've been using live profile since I got here to keep in touch with my daughter at home,, free when you're connected to wireless and working fine. Would obviously cost if using data roaming,, more than a 20p text I assume!
