Did anyone else think that yesterday's Hounds of the Baskervilles was bloody silly?

No, sorry - I really enjoyed it. I love Sherlock Holmes... and can't wait for the next one.

I only saw the last 10 minutes or so of Sherlock Holmes, as Son 1 was hogging the TV and I had to wait until it was over to rob the controls back off him.

To be honest, I thought it was more akin Dr Who than Sherlock Holmes, and I don't think I'd be a fan.

Problem is that Sherlock Holmes is not a modern character, and there's no place for making him look like a "hip & happening Mr Wise Guy". Give him back his cape and pipe and let him be who he was created to be.

....... or am I seasonably a bit late for my "Bah Humbug" routine!   Roll Eyes

Yes I thought it was like Dr Who too, Bernie.  I enjoyed the first series, so I think they've tried to make it even whizzier this time.

OK, Elle, what happened right at the end - after the actual story was over and a man walked out of a room?

Haven't seen the TV version, but I felt exactly the same about the recent film - Hollywood making him an action hero when he was anything but....

Yes - I find it very much like Doctor Who too... which is probably why I like it so much.

John - I thought that was "a weapon", as in someone being sent after Sherlock... possibly from Baskerville... but then I also wondered if it was his arch enemy (whose name escapes me). It happened quite quickly so wasn't sure. It's just whetting our appetite and providing a link to a future programme anyway - the tv plots often do that and then throw it back at us just as we've forgotten it. Doctor Who did it with "Bad Wolf", "River Song" and a few others.
