On John B's recommendation I have downloaded the FilmOn app to my iPad.  So far excellent - live streaming TV channels - I've just been watching surfing on French TV5 Monde.  Not sure if they'll start charging for the free stuff after a trial or if it's paid for by the turgid ad that precedes any chosen channel.

I use TVCatchup quite a bit, and it's the turgid advert model. Bizarrely though, if I stay logged in on my i-phone, I seem to miss the ads, but even if I stay logged in on the desktop, I have to endure the ads every time Huh

BTW - getting fibre next Monday, so Mr C has all sorts of plans for streaming throughout the house- God help us Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

CG if you play catch up TV through BT Vision the catch up websites or apps such as BBC iPlayer and ITV Player can be accessed through a single handset so you can for example switch more or less directly between C4 live and ITV 1 catch up.  There are never any TV ads on the catch up service this way except for channels they want you to buy of course!

Maybe someone else can enlighten us, but I think that TV catchup and Catchup TV are two differnet things, but anyway, we're not having BT vision.

The best bit about filmon on an iPad is that it works  with UK TV worldwide without a VPN.  The worst bit is it let me see Celebrity 5 go to Lanzarote

Yes I couldn't believe that it provides access to channels all over the world.

Question from Mr C - could someone test for him tonight if you can watch restricted programmes on it from Lanza- ie the Liverpool match on BBC1 tonight where you wouldn't be able to listen to coverage on it online on 5 live if you were outside the UK?

Seems too good to be true! John B. do you know if it's free or does it ask you to join and pay after the free period?

Did anyone outside the UK manage to watch the Liverpool match?

I'm in the UK so I was hoping John would oblige!  Seems unlikely that premium football matches would be available.  When I looked at French TV the options were quite limited in comparison to what you can get if you live there.

Sorry, just got in, so I missed it, but BBC is working fine now.  I can only speak for the iPad app, on which I watched the Rugby World Cup, and several Xmas progs.  That seems to be free, with no need to pay in the foreseeable future.  The PC version, I'm not sure about. Now I've got the Apple AV adaptor, I can plug the IPad into our big TV and watch all the BBC and ITV channels on that.

We've got Apple TV (early adopter lol), but would still like know about sport etc that is blocked for UK viewers only - as Josie is saying - does seem unlikely, but would be good.

I expect if you give John a few days' warning he will oblige.  Anything on this weekend?
