Turtle loses his shell. Is he homeless or naked?

« on: January 15, 2012, 13:58:22 PM »

Wowsers, where do I start?!

My birthday fell on the Tuesday and as I was travelling to Lanzarote on the Monday, it seemed only right I should start the celebrations on the weekend before, despite having already told my friends I would celebrate it when I got back!

So, the Friday before my birthday I spent a lovely evening with friends and neighbours drinking vino with them and the presents commenced.  I had a lovely D&G perfume from them as the main present, their daughter bought me a fancy wine glass (she knows me so well) and as a gimmick they also bought me a handbag holder that you attach to any table and it holds your bag underneath.

Saturday off I went to the local and received one card, specifically because my friends had put Euros inside and so they wanted me to have it before I travelled.

Sunday I was taken out for a lovely carvery lunch, but it got a tad messy as it didnt stop at the lunch and lots of vinos ensued ...........

Somehow managed to wake up at 3.30 Monday morning, having not set my alarm and needed to leave for my flight at 6 am!!!!  Phew!!!  I'm thinking less of the vinos at this point!

So, bright and early Monday morning I met my friend Dani in the airport and off we travelled to Lanzarote ............

Blur/drinking haze and here I am back home!

No seriously though, we did spend the entire time there from landing early Monday pm, to arriving back Friday evening in a bit of a whirlwind!

We had fantastic hospitality from Elle and all the others that I know she has already mentioned at Casa A&E on Tuesday afternoon, and as well as the vino there was also much Moet provided by Kingy.

Kingy is one of the nicest, most genuine people you could meet and he spent the entire week ferrying me and Dani to wherever we wanted to go.

In fact we had a great reception wherever we went and I'll try and remember the places we visited .........  The Funny Farm in Matagorda (where most of the chaos took place), The Vegas Lounge, Rockola, The Galleon (had to pop in and say hello to Mick's mate of course), The Boathouse by Jameos Playa ... always a great reception in there and my friend Dani acquired her nickname of Merlot, think we actually had a coffee and coke in Cafe Del Carmen (yes really!  it was the day after the night before), popped to Wendy's Bar behind the Biosfera and also to La Caleta in Playa Honda.

I've had so many cards and presents but I have to say one of the main highlights was walking into The Funny Farm on Tuesday night.  I had previously posted on Facebook if any of my friends would like to join me for a drink that night, thats where I would be.  The entire bar was packed to the rafters but there was one person sitting with her back to me as I walked in ........ it was a friend who lives in the UK and had travelled over especially without telling me!  I know Julie Lanza is a member on this forum but not sure she actually posts on here.  I'm surprised the entire bar wasnt deafened, I spent about 10 minutes squealing with delight!

And for the places we ate .... I'm getting a little rusty now .... The Steakhouse in Matagorda (ate there twice and had a fantastic pizza on the last night), Restaurante China opposite the San Antonio, ooh and we also popped into Raffles and said hello to Gary.  I remember we had a toasted sandwich in the Funny Farm as they've just opened up their kitchen in the day and started doing snacks etc and roasts on Sundays ....  I knew I was missing a meal, we also popped to El Ancla in the old town.

Ermmmm, so to end the week of my 40th last night was back down to the local to celebrate with my friends here and now its time to DETOX!!!!!

So all in all its been a fantastic week and I certainly wont forget it (unless of course I already have Wink ) .... so thank you one and all!!

xx

Have it all to look forward to in a couple of years, not that I'm pointing out the fact that you are older than me or anything as childish as that. Tongue
