You would not believe how heavily it is raining here right now! Just seen a cyclist trying to cope with it - and the water on the road was over the bottom of his tyres. Cars are kicking up sprays of over 5 feet, even by driving slowly. It's pouring off our roof like a waterfall. We've got loads of towels trying to stop the water from coming in - but it's a losing a battle. Guido's freaked out by it all. Bart's taking some photos.

Poor CeltyGirl!!!

Incredible!

The webcam view from the Arrecife Gran hotel makes it look as if it's not raining there - if you know of any live webcams in PB can you put a link on this forum?

OMG  Shocked

Are you still going to meet up or are you bailing out your home?

Keith.  Cool

PS It's the best day of the year here, positively balmy.  Tongue

Sorry Flooey - having reread my message I meant to say only after saving your household including hubbie and dog from drowning and your best shoes from being ruined of course!

There's not a webcam running in PB at the moment. There used to be one on www.lanzarote-webcam.com that had a view of the promenade. Maybe have a look on there and see if it's up again? I know there's a couple in the pipeline for this area though anyway.
Yes still meeting up with CG - have just spoken to her on the phone and her cab was just arriving. So we'll see you all later - and hopefully the villas won't have been washed away in our absence.

PS: Of course Josie - but the priority should be in a different order lol.

This is one I use Josie, it's not raining but the sky is moody.

Brilliant Bart and Madstock!

Would love to see what the storm drain running onto the town beach looks like.

Where's the cam Keith?  - Thought it was Playa Dorada for a minute then realised it must be Puerto del Carmen.  Sky looks scary but note the group under the Kalise umbrella still seem to be enjoying their bevvies!

The Arrecife Gran webcam is the only reliable one on Lanzarote webcam at the moment and you get views from
different directions.  It's been looking towards the airport this afternoon.

PS -OK - so it's Costa Teguise - didn't look further than the pic last time - sky's gettting darker!

Always wondered why they have such big storm drains!

We saw the storm drains as we drove towards Wax Bar. They were gushing big time, and people were taking ohotos. Sorry - can't take a pic AND drive!
Couldn't stay too long with CG and her family as we had to come home and face the carnage. But CG was suitably lovely, and we had a good old fashioned natter. i passed on love from you all.
Have just left her down there with Ange now - so she's well looked after.
The skies are clearing now, which is a good sign. Seemed a lot different today though from a forecast I read elsewhere predicting "light showers".

Thanks for the update Flooey.

No word at all from the friends in our appartment - at least it's upstairs - sadly the windows have been known to let the rain in.  Depends which way the wind is blowing.  We'll find out at some point.

Hope things are not too bad at your place.

Didn't I read somewhere that Paya Blanca always has better weather than the rest of the island?

Have you got any photos ready yet Bart? I saw a few on La Voz but it looked pretty tame. I know it wasn't because a friend on mine was knee deep in water and that was with two industrial pumps bailing him out. Apparently, with all the new developement someone had built new house and a wall across the natural drain in their road causing a build up of water. It was soon solved when someone (and he doesn't know who it was) arrived with a JCB and knocked the wall down!!!  Shocked

There's a couple in a thread HERE Lynne, but it's a real shame we didn't get any photos of the storm drains in town - they were torrents. Nice one about the JCB - sounds like the person who built the wall didn't use their noodle eh?! It sounds like we didn't get the worst of it in our part of Playa Blanca, thank goodness!

The weather "statistics" on wunderground for sunday are still showing no rainfall for the day but maybe that's just at the airport.  We need Dottie if she's around.  Is is really possible that you had that much rain in Playa Blanca but the rest of the island was dry?
