O’Fado Portuguese Restaurant in Caleta de Fuste is opposite the
Fado Steak House in the Castillo Centre, next to the Police
Station. It is here that the mouthwatering aromas will drag you
in, keeping you on tenterhooks whilst you eye the menu. Codfish
makes up the largest part of the menu – almost in a “1001 uses
for cod” bonanza. There are also a wide variety of seafoods…
including crayfish and lobster, both of which are available for
you to choose your own. Their vegetarian menu should please any
palate, and they have a great menu for the kids too. They offer
sizzling steaks cooked on volcanic stone, chicken piri-piri, leg
of lamb, goat, chicken, turkey, cataplana (a traditional
Portuguese dish cooked in an old fashioned copper kettle), roast
rabbit, and even some more exotic meats for those with a taste
for the adventurous, such as kangaroo, and ostrich.

Portuguese Restaurant is busy every night, because of its
excellent reputation amongst both locals and holidaymakers – all
eager for great food in a great environment. Americo, the happy
owner is very proud that his staff are so content, that most of
them have been with him for many years – always the sign of a
happy team. He is also quick to mention that the restaurant has
won a number of awards over the years. The restaurant was
established in 1996 when the centre first opened, and because of
their excellent customer service and attention to detail, its
reputation continues to go from strength to strength.
This Caleta de
Fuste restaurant is open 7 days a week from 1pm until 11:30 pm –
including Christmas and New Year. Because it gets so busy,
Americo recommends that you book on special days such as these.
Whilst you dine during the evenings, live
entertainment is there for your pleasure, and can be viewed from
the balcony and the interior terrace. There is also a separate
no-smoking area, close to the kitchen.
All your favourite drinks are available, and
there is also a good range of wines from Portugal. Cocktails are
also available – and nothing is too much trouble for Americo and
the staff.
O’Fado Portuguese Restaurant is perfect for large
parties too –such as birthdays, weddings, corporate events… and
Americo will offer special pricing to groups that prebook.
