While not nearly as energetic as
Tenerife or some of the
Balearic Islands, there is still plenty of bars, clubs and
restaurants in Lanzarote to keep most people happy.
The busiest bars and clubs in Lanzarote are found at the 'Avenida
de las Playas' in Puerto del
Carmen, however there are bars and discos in all of the main
resorts. Puerto del Carmen has something for everyone with its
gorgeous restaurants in the picturesque Old Town, through to its
throbbing centre on The Strip (including Centro Atlantico),
right up to the gentler Matagorda close to Arrecife airport
Arrecife the capital is where you can
sample more of the Spanish way of life than the other three
resorts. With its multitude of tapas bars, restaurants, and
regular community events… Arrecife is where all serious Spanish
partygoers head to. Look out soon for the concert hall which
will begin construction on the promenade in 2009. Just along the
coast is Playa Honda. Predominantly
residential – but chock full of great places to eat.
Costa Teguise is the oldest and
most established resort, and has beautiful beaches, as well as
perfect conditions for windsurfers. It also has a very wide
selection of places to eat and drink – and is easily accessible
from the airport. Costa Teguise is a true family resort with
friendly venues and entertainment for everyone.
Playa Blanca is the newest resort
on the Island, and the fastest growing. With its picturesque
seafront, and stunning Rubicon Marina, Playa Blanca is a gentle
and civilized town – perfect for families and couples. Don’t
miss the Papagayo Beaches, considered amongst the best in Spain.
Just a little North of Playa Blanca is the tiny village of El
Golfo, with its famous fish restaurants overlooking the sea – a
must for anyone on
holiday in Lanzarote.
Timanfaya is probably the best well known of all visitor
attractions, with trips up through the volcanoes and views
across the Island . There is also a demonstration of the one
volcano that is a little more than dormant. Watch as they pour a
cup of water down into the hole & a jet of steam shoots up into
the air. You can sample food cooked over the heat as a fitting
end to this breathtaking trip.
Early evening is a time for wining and dining at any of the
island's fabulous bars, cafes or restaurants. But the bar
activities don't really start to kick in quite a bit later in
the evening - so be sure to take it easy! Lanzarote’s evening
entertainment choices are as diverse as could be, so you will be
sure to find something to please you. And the good thing is -
the entertainment is usually free. Live music, stand-up comedy,
clubs, sports bars and family venues abound here - you're sure
to find something to while away the hours, whilst keeping the
everyone happy.
