If in Playa Blanca, there is one
place that you really must visit. An absolute gem amongst
Lanzarote restaurants, the Indian Tandoor House is run by Kanu
and his family. The chef, and all the aromatic spices are from
India, and you can be assured of the highest level of dining
pleasure every single time. This Playa Blanca restaurant is a
real favourite amongst the local residents, and even within a
week’s holiday – people return again and again.
The specialties that the Indian Tandoor House are
reknowned for, are Chicken Tikka Massala and Lamb Jalfrezi.
However, of extra special note is the Murg Methi Mali. This
really is the signature dish of this Indian restaurant, and must
be sampled. It is an extremely difficult dish to prepare
correctly, yet Kanu and his team have perfected it. The
remainder of the menu is wide and varied, and in December 07 the
menu had even more items added… More Indian starters and dishes
– the like of which many will never have tasted unless they have
been to India.
There is
always a warm welcome here, with Kanu and his family constantly
working to enhance your meal. Open from 5pm until 11:30 every
day (except Thursdays, outside of the busiest season), the
interior is immaculate, and decorated exactly as you would
expect from a restaurant of this quality, and there are smoking
and non-smoking areas. There are high chairs for the children,
and every little detail is attended to.
There is also something very special that the
Indian Tandoor House offers. Kanu will provide free home
delivery on all orders over €30, within a 20 kilometre radius.
Yes – 20 kilometeres! So even if you are in Puerto del Carmen,
you can still sample this excellent Indian food, and you will
certainly not be disappointed.
To find the Indian Tandoor House... head down the
pedestrianised area towards the harbour. This fine Playa Blanca
restaurant is up a small side street on the right hand side,
just past Spar. As you enter the side street - look to your
left... and follow your tastebuds.
